This new historical romance from May McGoldrick pits one spirited lass against her biggest challenge yet: a Highland lord who has no desire to lose his heart.

Innes Munro has the ability to “read” a person’s past simply by touching them, but her gift comes with a heavy price: her freedom. Forced to stay at desolate Castle Girnigoe, Innes never expects to be drawn to the wounded warrior who haunts its dark passages and challenges her at every turn.

Conall Sinclair, the earl of Caithness, carries the scars of battles with the English and the lash marks of their dungeons, but the wounds that fester within give him even greater pain. Isolating himself from his clan and the rest of the world in a tower perched on the wild Scottish coast, Conall is reluctant to let the spirited Innes close to him, however neither can deny the growing passion that ignites with every look, every touch.

But can Conall ever love a woman who can read his darkest secrets and feel the pain he hides… and can love really tame all fears? As dangerous forces close in, Conall and Innes must take the ultimate leap of faith and forge a bond of trust that will save them both…or lose each other forever.

My Thoughts:

Taming the Highlander by May McGoldrick is a captivating addition to her mesmerizing Medieval Historical Romance, “The Scottish Relic” Trilogy, Book 2. But can be easily be read as a stand alone. However, I would definitely suggest reading Book 1, “Much Ado About Highlanders”, which is another fantastic Scottish Historical Romance. It sets up some background for the rest of this Trilogy. “Taming the Highlander” is set against the backdrop of the Wild Scottish coast.

Conall Sinclair, is the actual earl of Caithness, however, he has turned the reign of his title and his clan to his younger brother. Conall carries the desperation, the hurt, the battle scars, even the lash marks from being in an English dungeon, as a prisoner, after the devastating battle with heavy losses against the English. He carries much guilt.

Innes Munro, has a gift, that could have her charged as a “witch”. She has the ability to “read” a person’s past simply by touching them. She also has the second piece of the Scottish Relic others are seaching for and willing to kill, whomever has the Relic. It carries some powerful knowledge, that some would kill to obtain.
Conall finds that Innes calms his inner beast and soothes his tortured soul. He is attracted to her. from the time he meets her, as Innes is to him. She can feel his pain and inner angst. Sparks fly, passion ignites and love blossoms. But can Innes be saved from the man pursuing the Relic holders? Can Innes and Conell find their HEA or will they lose all?
Some of the characters from “Much Ado About Highlanders” re-appear.

A captivating, mesmerizing and intriguing Scottish tale that will have the reader’s heart pounding, as they turn pages of “Taming the Highlander.
From the first page to the last and beyond, readers are sure to be captivated with the characters, and the compelling and powerful storyline.
Ms. McGoldrick is a brillant and masterful storyteller. Fans of Scottish myths, Highlanders, intrigue, adventure and romance will be captivated by “Taming the Highlander”. Highly recommended! I can’t wait to read the finale of “The Scottish Relic” Trilogy. A must read Scottish Romance with a element of the Paranormal! Awesome read!.

A Lady’s Rules of Etiquette When Kidnapping a Gentleman:

1. A lady must obtain a small vial of laudanum and a sturdy length of rope.
2. Once subdued, the gentleman should be bound securely.
3. At no point should the lady leave a sharp implement within the gentleman’s reach.
4. Should rule #3 be neglected, the lady must prepare for things to go dreadfully wrong.
5. In such a case, a lady must keep her countenance and under no circumstances should she submit to his charms and surrender her heart…

Miss Gwendolyn Wrotham is far more skilled at needlework than she is at kidnapping. But when her best friend begs her to distract the new Earl of Hastings, she reluctantly agrees. Regrettably, the earl is just as clever as he is handsome and before long, he is free of his restraints and not at all pleased…

As one of London’s most notorious rogues, Matthias Hart often finds himself in curious situations. Though he has never woken up drugged, bound, and hidden away in a remote Scottish cottage. Normally, he would welcome such a diversion, but his beautiful captor is young, witty and all-too-innocent. When he finally frees himself, all he wants is revenge and her complete surrender…

The Care and Feeding of Your Captive Earl (What Happens In Scotland #3) by Kate McKinley, but can be read as a stand alone. I would highly recommend reading the entire series, simply for the pleasure. See, #1, HOW TO LOSE A DUKE IN TEN DAYS (Lucas and Pippa) and #2, SO I MARRIED A HIGHLANDER (Alec and Evelyn). And of course, #3 THE CARE AND FEEDING OF YOUR CAPTIVE EARL (Gwen and Matthias).

Matthias Hart, Earl of Hastings, one of London’s most notorious rogues. Is about to meet the challenge of his life….Miss Gwendolyn Wrotham. Although, he’s never been in such a precarious situation before, drugged, bound, and hidden away in a remote Scottish cottage. Thus, begins the story of Gwen and Matthias!

A quick read, only about 197 some pages, but packed full of deliciousness and witty banter. What a great Regency Romance!

Ms. McKinley has created a story with witty banter, mixed with some serious revelations, for both Gwen and Matthias. What a maelstrom of emotions, readers will find in Ms. McKinley’s creative writing! The relationship between Gwen and Matthias is precarious, but was lonely and unfulfilled, before meeting each other. They have based their experience entirely on dysfunctional relationships, they have been associated with, until lately.

Well written with engaging, well-developed, but flawed characters and families. The storyline is somewhat unique, masterfully written, emotionally charged with some laugh out loud moments, and a few twists and turns. A bit of mystery and a touch of suspense, makes for some mesmerizing and adventurous reading.

Fans of Regency Romance, fun characters, fanciful longings, determination, mistaken identity, and a misunderstand or two with a most misbehaving Earl, I believe will enjoy “The Care and Feeding of Your Captive Earl”.

Ms. McKinley is an amazing, masterful storyteller, who draws the reader into the story and captures their hearts. A must read Regency Romance with witty banter and interesting characters. I can’t wait for the next adventure from Ms. McKinley!

My Thoughts

WOW! What a read! First in a new and exciting series, from Sharon Cullen, “Highland Pride”, and what a beginning! This story entail’s a story of the horrible events following the Jacobite Rebellion in Scottish history. The clans which sacrificed so much for freedom, the clans which helped so many escape death and imprisonment. It’s also a story of betrayal, treason, treachery, obsession, and the need for one widow to survive a fraudulent imprisonment, beatings, starvation, one man’s greed and a Scottish Laird’s need to help a woman, they find in the middle of the road near death, even through she’s English and could cause the death of so many.
Fast paced with some magnificent and mesmerizing storytelling. The characters are simply amazing, very engaging and easily captures the reader’s heart. You can not help but fall in love with this story, the characters, and the Scottish countryside.
“Sutherland’s Secret” is a keeper, a definite attention grabber and simply mesmerizing. Another hit for Ms. Cullen! I can’t wait to read the next “Highland Pride” tale. Magnificent!! A must read for fans of Scottish Historical romance, Scottish history, English history, adventure, danger during turmoil, and a beautiful romance.

There can be only one…for both of them.

Year 1210, Scottish Highlands.

Annella, the fae-blooded daughter of a warrior, holds the spirit-walker ability. With her fae skill, she has only one goal, to find the man who captured her father and brother and seek retribution. The last thing she expects though is to connect within her dreams with an infuriatingly rugged Highlander of shifter blood who lives over eight-hundred years in the future. Her destiny is set, to free her nearest and dearest, although to find them she must now enlist the aid of the warrior from the future. He’s the best tracker there is, and also her best chance at finding them.

Highland warrior shifter Alec Matheson meets the most intriguing lass who visits him in his dreams, a woman who also poses the greatest challenge. His soul bound mate has come to him during her greatest time of need, and now he must travel back through time to aid her. His lithe, golden-haired enchantress wears lad’s clothing and is swift with the sword and trained in all manner of warfare. She is also nothing like he expects, yet everything he has ever desired.

Now, he must make certain they both survive her perilous mission, for seeking retribution could ensure their death, or unite their spirited souls. Let the battle for love begin.

My Thoughts

This series titled “Clan Matheson”, is a spinoff series from “The Matheson Brothers”. #3 in the “Clan Matheson”series, but can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend reading the “Clan Matheson” as well, for background information. A “Paranormal Bear Shifter Romance”.
Fast paced, adventure filled, passion filled and unique. The author did a wonderful job of connecting the past with the future to tell an amazing, yet, complex tale with many twists and turns. The characters flew off the pages, were very intriguing and interesting. The storyline is compelling, with many challenges and a unique complexity that will have fans turning pages. I can’t wait for Ronan and Kylie’s story. And to learn the rest of the story…
Powerful, but be warned it’s steamy, passionate and has a hulky Bear Shifter as well as a feisty Dream walker. Fans of Paranormal Romance, Shifters, Dream Walker, Highlanders, Faes, Historical romance and danger will enjoy “Highlander’s Sword”. A keeper!

Scottish Romance doesn’t get much steamier—or more dangerous—than a spy hunting her quarry, and losing her heart to him instead.

To pay a seemingly impossible debt, Mariel Brandon has become a spy for Aaron, one of England’s deadliest minds. Aaron’s latest mission for the sharp-witted and daring Mariel is to find two people in a heavily fortified castle on the Isle of Skye, a castle headed by the clan MacDonald and the powerful Kieran. Mariel is to seduce Kieran and get him to take her to Skye. If she succeeds, Aaron promises to let Mariel’s young brother go, and to free both of them from their debt. If she fails, her brother will die.

What she doesn’t count on is craving Kieran MacDonald almost immediately upon meeting him. Now Mariel must keep a secret from Kieran—one that could get them both killed—as she tries to form a plan that will save her brother, get her out from under Aaron’s thumb once and for all, and keep her in Kieran’s strong arms forever.

Claimed by the Laird

CLAIMED BY THE LAIRD by Nicola Cornick is a fast paced  Scottish Historical Romance. #3 in the “Scottish Brides” series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “The Lady and the Laird”, and “One Night with the Laird.
Faced paced and adventured filled. Where Regency England units with the Highlands!

A smuggler who you will, never guess who is the ring leader, but you do what you have to to support your family, your clan and your siblings. And a gambling and a spy who learns more than who is the ring leader of the famous Forres Gang.

Lady Christina McMorlan, daughter to the Duke of Forres, is so much more than she appears. Lucas Black, is the spy sent to break up and bring to justice the famous Forres leader. Seduction and passion bring these two together. But will duty, and justice tear them apart?

I love this series, but I also love Scottish warriors, passion, seduction and love. Pride goth before a fall, rather said fall is love, seduction or providing for your clan.

A wickedly delicious romp though Scotland. I would highly recommend this title, especially, if you enjoy Scottish romance, smugglers, and spies. Lots of danger, secrets, betrayal and seduction. But most of all the true power of love and trust. I absolutely loved this title. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Net Galley.
