Eight years after she was sent to live with her aunt and uncle in Kent, Henrietta Katherine Graham, the daughter of the stablemaster for the Marquess of Ravenwood, returns to Garring Manor, older, wiser, and more beautiful than ever. Harboring an attachment for the second son, she looks forward to a sweet reunion and is thrilled when her beau resumes their relationship, without hesitation, and proposes marriage, but her father opposes the match, due to what he refers to as her low birth. Will Henrietta defy her father and societal dictates to follow her heart?

When he retires to the family estate, he is shocked to find his childhood sweetheart in residence, and nothing can stop him from renewing their acquaintance. Determined to win his ladylove, he devises a scheme to redefine Henrietta as something she is not, to protect his future wife and satisfy the whims of the ton, but he risks losing his bride, in the process. My thoughts:

The Stablemaster’s Daughter (Regency Rendezvous Book 10) by Barbara Devin is a delightful love story that transcends social classes, a stablemaster’s daughter and the second son of the
Marquess of Ravenwood. It can be read as a stand alone.
This is the journey of Henrietta Katherine Graham and Lord Ernest Cornelius Frederick Howe. And what a journey to fulfill their childhood love as just mere children, an eight separation and a happy reunion. While you can’t call this story a second chance story, it really is, their love went from a childhood love to an adult love. Fantastic!

A quick read to me, with endearing and engaging cast of characters. I did not feel I missed anything nor did it feel rushed. I enjoyed the plot, which seemed effortlessly written, was very interesting and steady paced. Henrietta and Ernest’s story will definitely capture your heart. With the help of family and friends they are determined to prove that a stablemaster’s daughter and a Lord can make a powerful and compelling couple.

Ms. Devlin writes a story of romance, love, devotion, secrets, abuse by a parent, passion, healing, and is infused with acceptance from the ton and finding a HEA that will certainly have you holding your breath, as Henrietta and Ernest find their place in society. I absolutely loved “The Stablemaster’s Daughter” story. A page turner, that came full circle!

“The Regency Rendezvous” series is proving to be a fantastic series. Well done, Ms. Devlin!

My thoughts:

Cupid Cures by Sylvia McDaniel is a great small town romance. #5 of the highly anticipated “Return to Cupid, Texas” series. While, #5 it can be read as a stand alone. However, to thoroughly enjoy this series from the beginning, might I suggest reading all of this delightful and entertaining series.

This is the story of Kyle Lawrence, the local veterinarian with a gentle heart and Dr. Tempest Tangier, a USDA investigator, with a famous past. Plus the superstition of dancing naked at midnight around the Cupid statue brings true love. Superstition or truth? You decide!

A delightful tale that is heartwarming as well as entertaining. I think this one is one of my favorites of this series.

Tempest and Kyle most find a cure for
a possible cattle epidemic before it’s too late for the neighbors of Cupid, Texas. Sparks fly in more ways than one between Kyle and Tempest.

This series has been such a fun but serious series. Full of surprises, twists and turns, plus a sweet and heartwarming love. The characters are engaging, believable and realistic. The storyline is once again, entertaining and interesting. I enjoyed how Kyle and Tempest worked together to find a cure for not only the cattle but for their hearts, as well. Can they rescue themselves as well as the cattle, and their neighbors livelihood?

A quick read, packed full of emotion. Another lazy and relaxing afternoon read. A great read by Sylvia McDaniel! I absolutely love this series.

Reunited with the P.I. (Honor Bound #2)Reunited with the P.I. by Anna J. Stewart

publication: May 9th 2017 by Harlequin Romantic Suspense
ISBN: 0373402120 (ISBN13: 9780373402120)

Summary from Goodreads:

In this Honor Bound romance, a perilous change of heart looms for two former lovers…

Exactly why should P.I. Vince Sutton take his ex-wife’s case? Because she, assistant district attorney Simone Armstrong, put his brother in jail? Because the ambitious spitfire still drives him crazy? No, he’ll take it because -The Avenging Angel- makes him a deal he can’t refuse. Sparks fly when Vince works all-too-closely with Simone to locate her missing key witness…but in the process, they are drawn into a cold case. As much as he tries, Vince can’t deny that he’s never gotten over beautiful Simone, but can he admit his feelings to her–and himself? And can he save her from the danger that’s heading their way?

My Thoughts

Wow. That’s my first thought after reading REUNITED WITH THE P.I. This is part of the Honor Bound series and follows MORE THAN A LAWMAN. However you do not have to read MORE THAN A LAWMAN to follow Reunited with the P.I. I will say that I think there are things within this story that will draw you to read the first book and to continue reading this series, there’s more going on than just a romance! Fans of Harlequin’s Romantic Suspense line know these are great suspenseful books, but REUNITED WITH THE P.I. also has a lot of emotional pull. The characters are well written and realistic. The story pulls you in from page one and doesn’t let go, even after the last page is turned. I’ve been thinking about this story for days. I want more honestly. I want to see these characters again. I can’t wait for Simone’s friend Allie to get her own story. And now I want to read MORE THAN A LAWMAN. There is a mystery written within REUNITED WITH THE P.I. that will leave you on the edge of your seat. This series, Honor Bound, does have a connected story-line that unites the characters and stories. One that will have you eager to read all the stories and ready for the next story to arrive. Highly recommend Anna J. Stewart’s REUNITED WITH THE P.I. to anyone seeking a great romance with a suspenseful story and characters that leave you feeling as if you know them. This was one of those perfect reads that had it all and left you wanting more. Now if only Ms. Stewart would write faster so I can get my hands on the next story I’d be good. A perfect Keeper Shelf story!

“Sarah Hegger has a gift for storytelling that is not to be missed. She’s a personal favorite of mine.” —Kathryn Le Veque, USA Today bestselling author

A practical marriage…

He married for convenience, but William of Anglesea had hoped for more than piety from his new bride. Raised in a convent and thrice widowed, prim Lady Alice of Tarnwych seems like an innocent when it comes to the marriage bed—except for the tentative passion he senses in her touch, and sees in her eyes. It seems the bold knight has a new challenge in alluring Alice. But will seducing his intriguing wife lead to his downfall?

An inconvenient desire…

Everything about charming, free-spirited William defies the cloistered world Lady Alice comes from. Duty brings her to their bed—and a long-held hope for a child. Yet after three indifferent husbands, the desire William shows her awakens her own. Little did Alice expect the powerful feelings he would inspire, emotions that make her ready to abandon her rigid beliefs, and the only family she’s ever known—when William’s life is on the line…

My Thoughts:

Conquering William by Sarah Hegger is a mesmerizing Medieval Historical Romance. Set with the English borderland as a background. Book 3 in the “Sir Arthur’s Legacy”, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Sweet Bea”, and “My Lady Faye”.

Sir William of Anglesea, a Knight, free-spirited, sexy, steadfast, loyal, has a large, loving family just married for convenience and duty. But he’s hoping for more than a piety marriage, from, Lady Alice of Tarnwych. Who is a widow three times over, comely, loyal to a fault, duty-bound, cloistered from the outside world, but dreams of one day having a happy, loving marriage with children of her own.

Sister Julianna, the nun who raised Lady Alice, and is also her Aunt, has big secrets of her own. There is an uneasy feeling that surrounds Sister Julianna. She influences Lady Alice, to distraction and is very selfish, self-serving and not very kind. I wanted to just slap her and send her packing, but bless William, he has the patient of a saint, in this regard. Lady Alice’s father had no time or desire to be with his daughter, so she was raised by Sister Julianna, in a near-like convent environment, although, in a stronghold.

Fast paced, heart-pounding, tale of secrets, treachery, lies, deception, mystery, suspense, danger, passion and the beauty of finding love and hopefully, a peaceful HEA.

“Conquering William” has such a uniqueness that surrounds the story, and the characters, that the impact it has is tremendous, captivating and mesmerizing, or to me, anyway.
I was totally surprised from beginning to end and all throughout. While, the reader may think they know the secrets within, they will be shocked when they learn the biggest secret of all. It was hard to understand Lady Alice’s reaction to William’s youngest brother, who is handicapped. The reader knows it will be something overwhelming and catastrophic to a young Lady Alice, but will it destroy the tender relationship her and William are building?
Will Sister Julianna destroy the HEA William and Lady Alice is searching for, or will they stop her before it’s too late?

What an amazing storyteller, Ms. Hegger is, one who draws the reader in and holds them in awe. You can feel the sensual tension, the tension amongst the people, the angst, turmoil and love as it flows off the pages. WOW! What a captivating and mesmerizing Medieval Historical Romance! Highly recommended for fans of Medieval Romance, uniquely written, highly explosive story with many twists and turns. I read it in one setting. Once you get started it was hard to put down.

Magnificent storytelling! Powerful, compelling and emotionally charged!
I can’t wait to see what Ms. Hegger has in store for readers next. I hope you will put up a copy, of “Conquering William” you will not regret your choice of reading material.

Book 4 (Rumpelstiltskin)
Kin de Bar (Rumpelstiltskin) is the lucky sibling until the old witch, Hecuba decides to curse him as well. While trying to save a book of alchemy from the witch, the book disintegrates in his hands and turns his chain mail gauntlets gold. Little does he know that his curse is now the touch of gold, and only by wearing the gauntlets can he stop it from happening.
Olivia de Mil is a spinster – a woman who spins wool into yarn. At the wedding of Stefan de Bar, her foolish, drunken father, the miller, brags that she can spin wool into gold. A visiting baron hears this and decides he will marry the girl if what the miller says is true. If not, they will both be beheaded. He asks Kin to escort the girl to his castle and the knight can see right through Olivia’s father’s lie. But now that Kin has the ability to do the chore for her, he puts his curse to work thinking of it as a gift instead. His motive to help the beautiful woman is only to have her for himself. And when the greed that comes with his curse starts to take over, secrets are revealed and Olivia’s life is in danger.
Can a woman with a problem turn to a knight for help, or will his curse consume him, leaving him with more problems than he can handle from having a Touch of Gold?

Touch of Gold by Elizabeth Rose is a wonderful varation on an old tale “Rumpelstiltskin” with a tangled twist. #4 in Ms. Rose’s exciting “Tangled Tales “series, while it can be read as a stand alone, I’d highly suggest the series be read in its entirety and in order. Although, it is easy follow, on its own. See, #1, “Lady and the Wolf (Little Red Riding Hood)”-Lord Hugh de Bar (Wolf)and Lady Winifred (Red) Chaserton, #2, “Just a Kiss(The Frog Prince)”-Sir Arnon de Bar and Freya Fane, and #3, “Lord Beast ( Beauty and the Beast)”-Stefan de Bar and Bonnibel of Breckenridge.

This amazing, uniquely written series is the story of the curse of the seven de Bar siblings. Each will be or has been cursed by the old witch, Hecuba.

Kin de Bar (Rumpelstiltskin),a Knight who is considered the lucky sibling until he is cursed with the touch of gold and greed. Olivia de Mil is a spinster, who spins wool into yarn. Her father, the miller, boasts she can turn wool into gold. And so the tale begins…

A quick read, steady paced with twists and turns, danger, greed, a curse, where the spell can only be broken by one thing, secrets will be revealed, danger lurks, passion flares, but can love find a way. Can Kin and Olivia overcome the curse to find their HEA, or will Kin’s greed destroy them both?

The characters are engaging, flawed and captivating. The storyline is unique, a twist on an old Fairy Tale, that will keep readers entranced and captivated. Each sibling and each tale keeps getting better and better. More enchanting with each sibling. I can hardly wait to see what awaits the next de Bar sibling.

An exciting Medevial Paranormal/Fantasy Historical Romance! Think the
T.V. series “Story Brook” meets Rumpelstiltskin, with a twist. If you enjoyed the “Story Brook” series, you are sure to enjoy this amazing, captivating series.
Once again Ms. Rose will captivate readers with her thrilling and exhilarating spin on this old Fairy tale. Another uniquely and spellbinding tale. An absolute wickedly delightful tale! More, please! WOW! I simply love this series!

Book Description (from Amazon)

Jodi Nichols isn’t the most romantic girl on the planet. She doesn’t get mushy over fictional love stories, or picture herself getting swept away by a handsome hero. She’s much too grounded in reality—and much too busy working as a concierge at the luxurious Regent hotel. Helping customers is Jodi’s passion in life, and while romance may be on the back burner for now, she is nursing a little crush on Levi, the cute and friendly deliveryman for the hotel packages. And unless she’s imagining things, Levi feels the same way about her.

But Jodi’s friends think she’s turning into a lonely workaholic. They try to fix her love life, buying her a copy of the bestselling relationship guide that claims women can find true love by channeling the wisdom of famous storybook heroines. Jodi thinks it sounds crazy—no way is she acting like Jane Eyre or Lizzie Bennet to find a man! But when Levi suddenly grows distant and Jodi’s chances with him seem to fizzle before her eyes, she wonders if her friends might have a point after all. Disheartened and lonely, she decides to give the so-called relationship guide a whirl, with unexpected consequences.

Before you can say ‘Pride and Prejudice’, Jodi is up to her neck in handsome, brooding men that seem too much like fictional heroes to be true. Her attempts to think like the greatest heroines in romance lead her to meet everything from a modern Mr. Rochester to an angsty Heathcliff, and even a Darcy-esque novelist. But when a former crush re-enters her life in the form of a modern day Romeo, Jodi wonders if there might be something to this ‘inner heroine’ thing after all. Now, if she could just stop thinking about Levi, then maybe her happy-ever-after will fall into place…or is something still missing from Jodi’s storybook romance?

My Thoughts

Boyfriend by the Book is an entertaining read. As the description says, Jodi tries to spice up her love life by using the classics and their characters, channeling her inner heroine. Unfortunately, after a few failed attempts, Jodi isn’t so sure she will find her true love.

I have to say that although I am not a regular reader of romance, I really enjoyed this story. It isn’t too predictable as there are a few plot twists and turns that had me second guessing myself. It is a very light read and tasteful; definitely well written with the characters true to their “fictional” counterparts. Ms. Briggs is a new to me author and I have to say, I will be watching her more closely. Looking forward to reading more from this author. This would be a perfect read for a rainy day. It can be done easily in one sitting.
