Pirate or Laird…?

Birk Bane was born the second son, the unwanted son, the unneeded son. Crossed by family and falsely accused of a crime, he flees Scotland to the sea where he’s recruited by a pirate. Five years later, he’s captain of his own ship and embraces his new life, though an ache for the woman he left behind remains. When he receives word of his father’s death and his clan is floundering, Birk begrudgingly returns home. Little does he know there’s more he left behind than a title…much more.

Sheena MacRae helped Birk escape to safety years ago, always expecting he’d return. Time passes and she believes him to be dead. With her clan being terrorized and slaughtered, she accepts she is the only one who can stop the suffering by agreeing to marry Laird Gordon, the man behind the assaults. The man who is also poised to rule Birk’s clan. Despite the crushing need to hold Birk in her arms once more, his reappearance changes nothing. Sheena has too much to lose if she reneges the betrothal to Gordon. And while Birk’s intentions are to return to the sea after reclaiming his clan, she didn’t count on her pirate lover’s plan for revenge…

The longer he’s home, the more betrayal Birk uncovers. There will be a fiery battle ahead for Birk and his brethren. If he survives, how will he choose between the life he loves and the love of his life?

My thoughts:

The Laird’s Reckoning by Jennifer Bray-Weber is a beautifully written Pirate Romance set in 1730. “Romancing the Pirate” #6, but can be read as a stand alone.
A quick read, with a cast of characters that will take your breath away. They are believable, engaging and strong characters. I was glued to the pages from the first sentence to the last. I connected with these colorful characters. Just couldn’t stop turning pages. The plot is filled with heart-pounding action, adventure, danger and romance. There are a some humorous moments to me, mixed in with the excitement of pirate fighting, passionate kisses, betrayal and a masterfully written love story.
“The Laird’s Reckoning” in humble opinion is a must read. Great for an afternoon read at the beach, where you can hear the ocean and feel the breeze, and image pirates attacking your peaceful world, or, you could read it anywhere.

Jennifer Bray-Weber is a masterful storyteller who writes brilliantly and passionately. She knows how to bring her point across to her readers, without leaving out any of the story. She does not disappoint her readers.
I highly recommend this quick read.

MY THOUGHTS

Runaway Wallflower by Bianca Blythe is a beautifully written story of a science-minded wallflower finding love but will she found her HEA?
Book 3 of 3 in “Matchmaking for Wallflowers” (3 Book Series), but can be read as a stand alone.

Lord Rupert Haywood, future Duke of Belmonte, and a Swarthy Sea Captain, who roams the sea with his rugged crew of pirates. Louisa Carmichael’s, is an American whose brother unexpectedly inherits a dukedom, but she would rather roam the waters of the Caribbean
and try her new invention, an underwater breathing apparatus, than follow her mother’s edicts. When Louisa’s mother arranges a marriage for her, she desires to don breeches and take an adventure on a forbidden journey on the sea.
What follows is hilarious at times, charming, heartwarming and a familiar tale of finding love, and a HEA. Also, filled with intrigue, romance, a bit of mystery and a new scientific “breathing” apparatus. A science minded heroine and a strong, handsome ex-Royal Navy Sea Captain, turned pirate, what could be better. Oh, did I mention sea adventures, pirates and a slow burn romance, considering the hero thinks the new member is a young man. A great Regency Romance! Very heartwarming, and charming romance with a few twists and turns on this couple’s adventure. Well written with engaging and interesting characters. The storyline was intriguing, charming and very entertaining. An enjoyable and satisfying read!

MY THOUGHTS:
#2 in “The MacGregors: Highland Heirs”, but can be read as a stand alone. WOW! What happens when you cross a pirate, with a stowaway? Oh, yes, adventure, High Seas drama, danger, passion, romance and the chance for true love. From the first page to the last and beyond you have a feeling of adventure, you can feel the tension, and almost see the erotic lands aboard a pirate ship. The characters are exciting, enticing, and wicked. Of course, with a bit of deception, lots of adventure, and a lush, sensual setting, “The Wicked Ways of Alexander Kidd”, will hold readers captive. Once again, Ms. Quinn has delivered a deliciously, scandalously,Scottish adventure. Another must read Scottish Historical Romance. An absolute delight from beginning to end. Can’t wait for the next grand adventure!

Port Royal, Jamaica 1692

Living in a city deemed the wickedest in the world is no easy task for Miss Juliana Dutton. To make matters worse, with an ailing father and a drunken fool for a brother, she is forced to take over the running of the family business in order to survive. When a meddlesome suitor threatens to discover her secret and cast them all onto the streets, she agrees to a spurious engagement with the town buffoon, Lord Munthrope. She only hopes the man is trustworthy.

The Pirate Earl, Alexander Hyde, son of the infamous Captain Edmund Merrick Hyde, is the most feared pirate in Port Royal. Disillusioned with the religion of his parents and the pleasures of the world, Alex staves off his emptiness by leading a dual life to hide his deepest secrets.

A long-time enemy is out to destroy Alex and take Juliana for his own. Struggling to maintain her faith in the Divine, Juliana faces her problems bravely, but the harder she tries, the more it seems everything is working against her. Unwittingly, she and her weak fiancé become entangled in the hostility between the Pirate Earl and his enemy, while even more dangerous forces are rising up to destroy them all.

MY THOUGHTS:
RANSOM (LEGACY OF THE KING’S PIRATES) by MaryLu Tyndall is an exciting Inspirational Historical Fiction set in 1692 Port Royal, Jamaica. #4 in the “LEGACY OF THE KING’S PIRATES, but can be read as a stand alone. See, The Redemption, Legacy of the Kings’ Pirates Series #1,
Meet, Miss Juliana Dutton, the daughter of a shipping owner and  Alexander Hyde, son of the infamous Captain Edmund Merrick Hyde, aka, The Pirate Earl and Lord Munthrope, who is the town’s buffoon or so they think. And a few other wicked and not so wicked secondary characters.
“Ransom (Legacy of the King’s Pirates)” is the tale of faith, passion, secrets, love, romance, healing and forgiveness. Action packed, and fast paced from beginning to the every last page. Filled with adventure, a sea battle or two, struggles, and romance. Oh, an earthquake, and an earth shattering realization, literally!
WOW!! I was so excited to receive this long awaited tale, and was not disappointed. I adore pirates! The characters are engaging, and realistic. The storyline is interesting and intriguing. Although, poor Juliana meets with one problem after the other. From her desire to keep her secrets, to her troublesome twin brother, to her reaction to the Pirate King, and her growing attraction the buffoon Lord Munthrope. But can she trust either of them with her heart and her secrets? Juliana feels abandoned by everyone in her life, including God, sometimes.
Faith based, but not “preachy”. A pure joy to read! I couldn’t put RANSOM down!
Ms. Tyndall is back with her pirates!! I absolutely loved this tale of the promise of love, and the power of forgiveness and healing. A sweet romance! I can hardly wait to what is next for THE LEGACY OF THE KING’S PIRATES. If you don’t read any other tale of pirates and romance, you really should pick up RANSOM ( LEGACY OF THE KING’S PIRATES). You will not be disappointed!
Well done!!
