Reunited with the P.I. (Honor Bound #2)Reunited with the P.I. by Anna J. Stewart

publication: May 9th 2017 by Harlequin Romantic Suspense
ISBN: 0373402120 (ISBN13: 9780373402120)

Summary from Goodreads:

In this Honor Bound romance, a perilous change of heart looms for two former lovers…

Exactly why should P.I. Vince Sutton take his ex-wife’s case? Because she, assistant district attorney Simone Armstrong, put his brother in jail? Because the ambitious spitfire still drives him crazy? No, he’ll take it because -The Avenging Angel- makes him a deal he can’t refuse. Sparks fly when Vince works all-too-closely with Simone to locate her missing key witness…but in the process, they are drawn into a cold case. As much as he tries, Vince can’t deny that he’s never gotten over beautiful Simone, but can he admit his feelings to her–and himself? And can he save her from the danger that’s heading their way?

My Thoughts

Wow. That’s my first thought after reading REUNITED WITH THE P.I. This is part of the Honor Bound series and follows MORE THAN A LAWMAN. However you do not have to read MORE THAN A LAWMAN to follow Reunited with the P.I. I will say that I think there are things within this story that will draw you to read the first book and to continue reading this series, there’s more going on than just a romance! Fans of Harlequin’s Romantic Suspense line know these are great suspenseful books, but REUNITED WITH THE P.I. also has a lot of emotional pull. The characters are well written and realistic. The story pulls you in from page one and doesn’t let go, even after the last page is turned. I’ve been thinking about this story for days. I want more honestly. I want to see these characters again. I can’t wait for Simone’s friend Allie to get her own story. And now I want to read MORE THAN A LAWMAN. There is a mystery written within REUNITED WITH THE P.I. that will leave you on the edge of your seat. This series, Honor Bound, does have a connected story-line that unites the characters and stories. One that will have you eager to read all the stories and ready for the next story to arrive. Highly recommend Anna J. Stewart’s REUNITED WITH THE P.I. to anyone seeking a great romance with a suspenseful story and characters that leave you feeling as if you know them. This was one of those perfect reads that had it all and left you wanting more. Now if only Ms. Stewart would write faster so I can get my hands on the next story I’d be good. A perfect Keeper Shelf story!

Book Description

October 28, 2014
What happens when you find the right one at the wrong time?
Cara Medlen has a serious case of animal attraction. And it’s not because of all the foster dogs she’s rescued. She’s got it bad for her incredibly sexy neighbor. Her one rule: Don’t get attached. It’s served her well with the dogs she’s given to good homes and the children she’s nannied. Yet the temptation of Matt’s sexy smile might just convince her that some rules are made to be broken.Matt Dumont doesn’t need his skills as a private investigator to detect disaster on the horizon. Cara is everything he thought he’d never find-gorgeous, funny, and caring. But there’s no way he can start a relationship just as he’s about to move to another state. Talk about bad timing. As their attraction sizzles too hot to deny, they’ll have to make a decision: forget the consequences and let loose, or forget each other and let go…

My Thoughts

I received this book from Edelweiss for the purpose of an honest review. I started this one because I knew it had just been released and I was slow in reviewing it. I was so happy I did. Not only is it set in North Carolina (which I love) but it’s a great story. There’s a lot going on in this one. You have the romance between Cara and Matt, you have the storyline following dog rescues, and there’s an underlying storyline dealing with more. I won’t say the more so that you can figure it out on your own. This is book one in the Love the Rescue series. I’m eager to read more in this series! The secondary characters including the dogs and cats are cute and add an extra touch to the story. The setting is realistic and believable. The characters are realistic and engaging. I found this one to be delightful and am eager to read more from Rachel Lacey. I highly recommend this one to any fan of contemporary romance, great characters, a realistic story, and a wonderful cast of animals. You’ll fall in love!

As Haley and Stephen navigate their fragile relationship, they are inexorably drawn to each other. How can they honor the memory of a man whose death brought them together—and whose ghost could drive them apart?

Somebody Like You is a beautifully rendered, affecting novel, reminding us that while we can’t change the past, we have the choice to change the future and start anew.

SOMEBODY LIKE YOU by Beth K. Vogt is an interesting Inspirational Contemporary Romance/Fiction. This is the story of Haley, Sam and Sam’s estranged twin brother, Stephen. Sam was killed in Afghanistan, leaving, Haley a widow, after only three years of marriage. A heart-wrenching tale of letting go of the past to learn to love again.

Haley, never knew Sam had a twin brother. Of course, she was shocked to learn of this,  thinking Sam alive, after all, when she first saw Stephen. Sam and Stephen had been estranged for years.

A tale of second chances, loss, regrets, grief, letting go of what was to embrace what is, if you can.

A tearjerker to be sure, but a beautiful tale of life, widowhood, healing, forgiveness, faith, redemption, family and the promise of what’s to come.

Beautifully written, with engaging characters and an intriguing storyline. Do be sure to have tissues at the ready. A wonderful read from beginning to the very last page. Well done!!
