My thoughts:

TAMING A ROGUE EARL by Tammy Andresen is a compelling but heart-wretching story of a young lady and a past alcoholic who became friends in the previous book. While, book 6 it can be read as a stand alone, I’d suggest reading the previous book first, for a bit of back story of May and Lucius. But not necessary to enjoy this book.

This is the story of May Stanley, a 20 year old lady and Lord Lucius Loudoun, an alcoholic, who is now a shrewd businessman. This story takes place in America, in 1866. May has returned to America with one of her guardians, the Duke of Manchester, who is a friend of Lycius and he works with him in the shipping business. The Duke of Manchester has always believed in Lucius. May is seeking a husband, one who will stay in America. ….so begins her struggle to gain Lucius’ heart.
A story of an alcoholic, who has changed his life, to a better one, and a naive, impressable young lady. Lucius tried to stay away from May, but she’ll have none of that. Lucius believes himself unlovable. May is out to prove him wrong.

Fast paced, quick read, approximately 162 pages, but very heart-wretching, with well-developed and engaging characters with a few unsavory characters, as well, although May is a bit naive. The plot was interesting with elements of mystery, drama, a bit of action, a bit of suspense, lots of romance and passion. Ms. Andresen manages to weave a bit of humor throughout this story.
Ms. Andresen never disappoints her readers, but she manages to write topics readers can relate to, about people who feel realistic and are believable. I enjoyed Lucius and May’s story. It had to be a difficult story to write, so, many strong feelings, in writing a story of an alcoholic and a young lady. I have a bit of a soft spot for alcoholics, their struggles, their circumstances and their will to overcome. My hat goes off to Tammy Andresen for writing a suburb story! Strongly recommended.

My thoughts

Maiden from the Mist (Guardians of the Stone Book 4) by Tanya Anne Crosby is without a doubt a riveting tale of Scottish lore, Scottish history and a romantic adventure for readers of Scottish Romance. While, book 4 for “Guardians of the Stone”, it can be read as a stand alone. Has been such an interesting series, I hate to see it end.

The cast of characters are enjoyable, captivating and feel genuine. The plot has secrets, dangers, romance, passion and flows seamlessly and effortlessly. I enjoyed the twists and turns, the surprises and the conflict was enough to keep the reader enticed and turning pages. I was glued to this story from the first page and it held my heart captive through out the story. A definite most read and a true Scottish Romance treasure. I can hardly wait to see what Ms. Crosby has in store for her reader’s next grand adventure. Mesmerizing! !

From the author:

Three innocent debutantes must work to solve the mysterious death of their childhood friend. With undaunted determination they pledge to not only expose the man responsible for their friend’s tragic death on her wedding night, but to also uncover other unscrupulous men of the ton who would jeopardize the future of other young women.

My thoughts:

The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia (The Undaunted Debutantes Book 3) by Christina McKnight. Book 3 and the final book in “The Undaunted Debutantes” series. Final book of this amazing series. While, book 3, it can be read as a stand alone, however, I’d suggest reading the other two in this series, to learn more of the friends, but not necessary to enjoy Ophelia’s story.

Lady Ophelia Fletcher, is quiet, reserved, always has in a book in hand, which is why she didn’t witness the death of her friend. She now writes the Mayfair Confidential column, which exposes unsavory men, this is her way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. Guilt of not witnessing her friends death has driven her for years but can love safe her.

Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promised his grandpapa to find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a smuggler off the coast of Kent. He wishes to re-claim his family’s honor, the scandal that surrounds them, and their good name. Will Colin and Ophelia find the true treasure, finding love and their HEA? Ophelia and Colin are wonderful characters and readers see Ophelia grow from a timid and reserved young lady to an outspoken lady, who speaks her mind.
The cast of characters are enjoyable, creative and realistic. Steady paced with a few twists and turns. The plot flows seamlessly and is written with detail to history, details of the area, with intrigue, danger, passion and adventure.
I hate to see this series come to an end, but all good things must.
Once again Ms. McKnight demonstrates her skills as an author. She never disappoints her readers. If you enjoy adventure, mystery, suspense, and intrigue, “The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia” is the right choice of reading material. A joy to read and strongly recommended.

Read the next in the family saga of the historical Scottish Grant and Ramsay clans.

She convinces her brother’s best friend to help her stop a war. But will they provoke one instead?

Kyla Grant once believed her sire, the legendary Alexander Grant, was invincible, but his brush with death changed her mind. The whole clan is still reeling from Alex’s battle injury when a new threat arises from their long-time rivals, the Buchan clan. Kyla, convinced that the Grants cannot take another battle, is desperate for a peaceful resolution. Her plan is to make a personal appeal to the Buchan’s only living child, Davina, but she knows her parents would never allow her to risk her safety…

Finlay MacNicol is always quick with a joke, but life has never given him less to laugh about. His mother is dying, and yet another battle is on the horizon. When his laird assembles a group of warriors for a scouting mission to the Buchans, Finlay does his duty and joins them. He thought he knew what to expect from the mission, but he certainly didn’t expect that Kyla would sneak along, or that his laird would assign him as her protector. Kyla’s beauty has always affected Finlay, but her bravery and sweetness soon stir deeper feelings.

After visiting Davina, Kyla becomes determined to rescue the lass from the clutches of her abusive sire. Finlay agrees to help her, but there’s a risk they may provoke a war rather than prevent one.

My thoughts:

Kyla by Keira Montclair is one of those WOW stories. While, book 9 in her popular “The Highland Clan”, it can be read as a stand alone.

I was enticed and enthralled with Kyla Grant and Finlay MacNicol’s story. Well written, fast paced with an enjoyable and captivating cast of characters, both good and evil. The storyline flows seamlessly with intrigue, a bit of mystery and suspense, that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. The plot is intriguing and captivating.
I was glued to the pages of Kyla and Finlay’s trust, and their love of each other and their clan. Kyla has such a tender heart, she gets herself and Finlay in a world of trouble when she tries to help her new friend, Davina, the daughter of Clan Grant and Clan Ramsey’s worst enemy, Buchan Clan.
My heart broke for Finlay and Kyla as they try to survive their ordeal with the horrible Glenn Buchan, his creed, his thirst for revenge and his desire to be a powerful chieftain.

The reader will found themselves thoughly invested in “Kyla”, from the romance to the intense suspense to the fighting and more. I absolutely love Kyla, Finlay, and the next generation of Grants and Ramsey’s. Such a fresh story with refreshing characters. I look forward to the next story in “The Highland Clan” family saga, which promises to be Bethia Ramsay’s story. The author gives readers a bit of insight into her story through the epilogue.
Keira Monclair is an amazing storyteller with her characters, her vivid descriptions and her knowledge of Scottish clans, family sagas, romance and passion. Simply mesmerizing! ! A keeper and true treasure of Scottish Romance. Another hit by Keira Montclair.

Caution: This Historical Regency Romance contains a duke who literally thumbs his nose at society, a sweet and intelligent wallflower with a secret dream, a villainess worthy of a fairy tale, and two delightful match-making dowagers.

Coming July 24, 2017!

My thoughts:

A Diamond for a Duke by Collette Cameron is a delightful Regency Romance. A novella based loosely on Jean Perreault’s classic fairytale, “Toads and Diamonds”. This is a sweet romance with plenty of humor to satifisy your funny bone. The cast of characters are enjoyable and charming. You can’t help but fall in love Jules and Jemmah. The storyline flows seemingly and was well executed. The plot, while, serious, (mental abuse), there are laugh out loud moments.
Once again, Collette Cameron has written another hit, that will keep you glued to the pages as you follow Jemmah and Jules on their journey of a lifetime, as they find their way to a HEA.
Another keeper and and must read!
