Book Description Courtesy of Amazon:

Covert CIA agent Matt Kincaid is back in tiny Walton Springs, only to find Janey Blackmon waiting to ask him a favor. Matt’s not there to reminisce with the girl he’s never forgotten…and he’s definitely not there to divulge government secrets about her missing brother.

Ten years…and Janey hasn’t forgotten the love of her life…or that he abandoned her on prom night. Bound by duty and honor, he was shipped out to parts unknown by Uncle Sam. But she knew he’d go because adventure is in Matt’s blood. Being stuck in a small town with plain Jane the librarian wasn’t ever in his plans.

Trapped by a flood, with no phone or power, desire tempts them both. Will passion–and Matt’s offer to recreate prom night–lead to a future together? Or are they just dancing in the dark?

My Thoughts:

Good, wholesome, home-town girl meets (again) the sexy, secretive, on-the-go spy. What could go wrong? Not much, apparently! I love reconnection stories about couples who might-have-been at one time but couldn’t for whatever reason, only to rekindle the romance later in life when the stars finally align. This is the perfect example, and a perfect prequel to its companion.  I just wish it had been a full-length story, because Matt and Janey are so adorable together!

There’s not a whole lot to say about this story due to its short nature, but it is definitely worth the read. If I say too much more than the description, that’s pretty much the entire novella! Just take a read for yourself, especially if you plan to read the next one!

Book Description Courtesy of Amazon:

A dangerous man on the run…

Wounded and accused of treason, CIA operative JP Blackmon is on the run from his own agency and desperate to clear his name. When he finds out his old partner is dead, he’ll do anything to get to the truth…including using his partner’s widow.

A vulnerable woman looking for answers…

Abby Price wanted nothing more than a family and a safe home. But her late husband kept big secrets from her—secrets that got him killed and have government agents watching her every move. Fearing for her life, it seems the only man who can help her is a mysterious stranger who suddenly appears out of nowhere. But can she trust him?

Together they discover a passion worth dying for.

As danger stalks them at every turn, unexpected passion flares between JP and Abby. But the last thing either wants or needs is more complications. Romance? No. Way. That would involve trust—something neither is willing or able to do. But in the end, sharing their deadly secrets is their only hope for survival…their only hope to hold onto the love they’ve just begun to share…

My Thoughts:

This is a great continuation and resolution to the novella “Dancing in the Dark.” Although Matt and Janey are not the focus of this book, her brother JP is. I love a romance, that’s not just a romance. That tends to get old after a while.  Luckily, being full of suspense and intrigue, in addition to the romance between JP and Abby, this book hits the mark.

JP is the quintessential CIA, paramilitary bad-boy on the outside, whose eyes and heart are opened, ironically, by his former partner’s widow and son.  Abby knew her husband kept secrets; she just didn’t realize how big they were until after his death. If she couldn’t trust him, she certainly doesn’t trust his bosses who have continued to hide things. She doesn’t think she can trust this stranger either, especially since he shows up (and passes out) right before those bosses come knocking again– in the middle of a typhoon.  But, he may have answers, and she’s darned if she’s going to give him up to the “bad guys” before she finds out what they are.

These two must learn to trust, themselves and each other, if they hope to figure out just what did happen so they can clear JP’s name.

Riveting suspense, intelligent dialogue, sincere emotions, and appropriate closure help make this book a great read. I definitely recommend this book.
