Christmas in town has never been so steamy . . .

Handsome as sin and scandalously rakish, Cam Westfall, the Earl of Bedwyr, is every young lady’s wickedest dream. Shy wallflower Princess Jacqueline of Sensaire knows this better than anyone, because her dreams are full of the breathtaking earl’s kisses. And not only her dreams—her diary, too.

But when Cam discovers the maiden’s not-so-maidenly diary, will her wildest Christmas wishes be fulfilled in its pages . . . or in his arms?

MY THOUGHTS:

KISSES, SHE WROTE by Katharine Ashe is a delightful Christmas Regency Romance set in Brittany, France and England. #1.5 of “The Prince Catchers”, but can be read as a stand alone. A novella. A story of one of the greatest gifts of all…..love. With secrets, desire, and a gallant hero and a imaginative heroine you can’t go wrong with “Kisses, She Wrote”. A quick fast paced read! A story of love and the Christmas season. Follow Cam Westfall, the Earl of Bedwyr and Princess Jacqueline of Sensaire on a steamy Christmas romance as their wildest Christmas wishes just may come true. Another delightful story by this amazing author. Well done! HEA’s are not just for Fairytales! Loved it! Received for an honest review from the publisher and Above the Treeline.

~Review~ The Christmas Game by Alyssa Palmer

Book Description Courtesy of Amazon:

Alone in London on business just before Christmas, Marc Perron meets an intriguing young woman working at a bookshop. A light flirtation seems to lead nowhere, but the night before he returns to Paris, she knocks on his hotel room door.

Madelaine’s taking a risk, but no one’s ever looked at her the way Marc does, and she’s not about to pass up a chance to get to know him better. When he suggests a game of wagers, she can’t resist challenging him. And herself.

Their matchup is a fiery one and each wager tops the last, the sexual heat between them crackling. Neither want to lose the game, but Madelaine fears she might be losing her heart as well.

My Thoughts:

This was the first of this series that I have read, and potentially the last.  If you know this author and know this series, then you will know what to expect and will definitely enjoy this short novella. If you are new to this author, you may feel the same way I did. Although the sex was hot and steamy (!!) I wish she had used two characters that were not in the other books, and therefor did not have ties to any other characters. I enjoy a good erotica story, but not when it’s obvious that the feelings and motives are so different between the two characters.

Madelaine goes against her usual behavior and hand delivers a book to Marc, hoping to stay the night. Although she knows it’s a one-night deal, she does nothing to guard her heart and is definitely starting to fall for him by the next morning. Marc delivers on the wagers and is more than there physically. But, while he is good at what he does (major turn-ON), his mind is on another during the entire process (major turn-OFF). If you’re only reading for the sex- it is a spicy, steamy read and will more than do the job. If you’re like me, and want a little depth to go with it, you may want to keep looking.

Ten-year-old Tim Slinger and his nine-year-old sister Dana face danger, excitement, and heartbreak in this story of life on a modern family farm. Though Tim (aka Poop Slinger) and “Devil” Dana engage in intense sibling rivalry that gets them both into hilarious situations with barns, ropes, farm animals, city-kid cousins, and each other, they are soon forced to confront unwanted changes when the farm is lost. As they face an alien world in town, Dana readily adapts to a new way of life while Tim resists, sending the siblings down separate but intersecting paths. Although an unexpected encounter puts Tim back into familiar surroundings, will life ever be the same? This fresh and humorous account of modern rural living brings a unique approach to the time-tested theme of families and communities coming together under challenging circumstances.

MY THOUGHTS:

THE COW-PIE CHRONICLES by JAMES BUTLER Illustrated by: Lonnie Millsap is an interesting Young Readers novel. Age: 7-9, Grade Level: 2-4. A collection of witty and entertaining adventures about the author’s life on the farm. I, myself, remember using cow-pies as bases when we played baseball in the field, yes, you heard it here first or second maybe. I was only a child and do know better now. But how the title brought back fun, humorous stories, of when we would visit my Grand-mother in the country. A great pick me up, filled with fun stories, and wonderful illustrations. A read any young reader would enjoy! Received for an honest review from the author and/or publisher.

November 27, 2013 “This afternoon it snowed. It was probably one of the last snows of the winter, so it was lovely sticky snow…perfect for making a snowman.” So begins the funny and poignant tale of a teenage girl and a dangerously tall snowman.

From the kitchen window, a mother watches her teenage daughter build one last snowman in the fresh spring snow. The girl works diligently, and with some help from her little brother, she constructs a dashing giant. But wet snow and gravity take their toll, leaving a young girl who has perhaps loved and lost for the very first time.

The LAST Snowman is a book with timeless appeal for children and adults alike. Award-winning story artist JC Little has playfully captured a tender “moment” in family life, marking the ephemeral grace between childhood and adolescence.

MY THOUGHTS:

THE LAST SNOWMAN by J C Little is an timeless Children’s Book/Growing up/ Family Life. A teenager, who builds a snowman learns that one day a guy will come along and fall for her too. This is the story of love, lost and growing up. With vivid illustrations which are beautiful and a tale for both young and old alike, “The Last Snowman” is a fantastic read! It will appeal to both young and older teenagers as they navigate growing up and moving forward with their lives. A wonderful, tender story! Received for an honest review from the author.

Yvette Hamilton knows just what she wants for Christmas–a dazzling marriage. And if marrying the ton’s catch at the height of the Yuletide season is how she can prove herself, she’ll be the most respectable of the many ladies competing for his hand. But one accomplished rake has other, much more tempting ideas. . .

The illegitimate son of a duke, Lord Jeffrey Eddington knows society will never truly respect him. He thought he’d found acceptance as a friend of the Hamiltons, but Yvette’s seeming snobbery makes him wager to win her hand no matter what it takes. Too late, he finds her frivolity conceals an intelligent, appealing woman. Now they face a hard choice between the holiday dreams they think they want most. . .and the very real love they can’t resist.

MY THOUGHTS:

HIS BY CHRISTMAS by Kaitlin O’Riley is a wonderful Victorian Historical Romance set in 1878 London. A most delightful holiday read! Lord Jeffrey Eddington,is the illegitimate son of a Duke, and friend of the Hamiltons and Yvette Hamilton, who wants a dazzling marriage, find themselves in a race to make their holiday dreams come true. While, this is #5 in the “Hamilton Sisters”, it can be read as a stand alone. I had no trouble catching up with this series. I plan to read the others also. Yvette, is intelligent, sexy, but pretends to be frivolous. While, Lord Jeffrey knows he will never be accepted in society due to his illegitimacy, it still doesn’t stop him from his dreams. His father, the Duke of Eddington accepted him as his son year prior, you see he truly loved Jeffrey’s mother. With the festive season, dreams can come true. Fast paced and a very interesting read, it is filled with passion, decisions, and love. This is the final in the “Hamilton Sisters” series. For an added touch you will be surprised by Jeffrey’s father and mother at the end of the story. Ms. O’Riley brought all the characters together nicely and this is a delicious read for one and all. A truly festive read! Received for an honest review from the publisher.

October 1, 2013 “Ghosts, a curse, secrets–a perfect mix.” –Hannah Howell

Christmas in the Highlands. . .

Not any dashing English lord’s idea of a good time. But now that Lord Alexander Mallory has won a Scottish estate in a hand of cards, he is the unlikely laird of the wild, snowy Bonniebroch. Worse yet, the ancient pile of stones comes with a betrothal. To a fiery red-headed virgin. And a curse.

Alex will have his hands full honoring the first, seducing the second and breaking the third. . .all by Twelfth Night.

MY THOUGHTS:

PLAID TIDINGS by Mia Marlowe is a fantastic Scottish Historical Romance set in 1821 Scotland. #1 in “The Spirit of the Highlands” and what a beginning! I absolutely loved this story! The chemistry between Lord Alexander Mallory and Lucinda MacOwen jumps off the page. Lord Mallory won Lucinda’s beloved Scottish estate, Bonniebroch, in a card game and of course he is the most unlikely laird. The estate comes with what else… a curse, a betrothal, and of course a most unlikely fiery red-headed virgin. Let the games begin…..

By Twelfth Night, he must break the Scottish curse that comes with the estate, of course he is attracted to Lucinda, and most seduce her oh yes, she must fall in love with him to break the curse of her own free will. Which she is deeply attracted to Mallory also. Filled with passion, a bit of danger, lots of laughter, a ghost,a curse and what else but in true Marlowe fashion a hero who is strong, determined, sexy and a Highlander in every sense of the word. Of course, her heroine, Lucinda, is fiery, feisty, a virgin, and strong-willed herself. Christmas in the Highlands is always festive, mystic, and passion filled! Fast paced and full of adventures. I love Ms. Marlowe’s stories, she knows how to draw her readers into the story and hold them there. I can’t wait for the next installment.  Another must read!
