My thoughts:

Mail Order Bride: A Banker’s Wife (Mail Order Montana) (A Western Romance Book) by Leah Laurens is a delightful Western Romance, which has much to offer readers. Part of a series, but it can be read as a stand alone. It is set in Montana.

This is the story of Sarah Ackerman who arrives in Montana as a Mail Order Bride and has a useless scarred arm where she meets John Bowman, who is a widower, has a bit of a temper,  and two young children. You see Sarah arrives as her younger sister, Carrie, to marry John.

There are a few spots that felt a bit slow to me but picked nicely to bring a well paced tale filled with bank robbers, kidnappers, town gossips, a couple of busy bodies, and soiled doves.
The mystery, romance, and suspense will keep readers turning pages as their captivated by the strong willed characters and a plot that flows seamlesly and effortlessly.

A joy to read! An amazing Western Romance. A must read and a keeper.

My thoughts:

Lord of Night by Erica Ridley is book 3 in her exciting “Rogues to Riches” series, while book 3 it can be read as a stand alone.

This is the story of Dahlia Grenville and Simon Spaulding. Dahlia is the mysterious Mayfair thief, she is forced into thievery to keep her School of Wayward Girls afloat. Her patrons support has fallen off, and she knows no other way. Simon is a no nonsense, straight laced bow street runner, his fellow runners calls him the “Lone Wolf”, but Simon is determined to bring the mysterious Mayfair thief to justice and straight to the gallows.
Will Simon be able to bring Dahlia to justice, after all, they do have a budding, relationship? Or will Dahlia’s lies, secrets, and deceit end their budding relationship , possibly bringing their HEA to an end, after the truth is revealed? Will Simon forfeit his career for his heart and a HEA? You simply must pick up this satisfying Regency Romance to find out for yourselves.

“Lord of Night” is a remarkable story of love, secrets, trust, mystery and the possibility of a HEA. The cast of characters are interesting, engaging and charming, each in their own way, of course. I did wish to shake Dahlia a few times, but life has been hard for her, not that thievery is right, or anything. Simon is a no nonsense, by the book, bow street runner, and a protector. Together, they make a charming couple. I wondered how Ms. Ridley was going to bring their story to an end she did a remarkable job if bring their story to a satisfying end. A page turner and a keeper!

Erica Ridley has done it again, with this delightful Regency Romance! “Rogues to Riches” story, just keeps getting better and better. The story flows seamlessly and flawlessly. For a great story with amazing characters, pick up a copy of “Lord of Night”.

My thoughts:

TAMING A ROGUE EARL by Tammy Andresen is a compelling but heart-wretching story of a young lady and a past alcoholic who became friends in the previous book. While, book 6 it can be read as a stand alone, I’d suggest reading the previous book first, for a bit of back story of May and Lucius. But not necessary to enjoy this book.

This is the story of May Stanley, a 20 year old lady and Lord Lucius Loudoun, an alcoholic, who is now a shrewd businessman. This story takes place in America, in 1866. May has returned to America with one of her guardians, the Duke of Manchester, who is a friend of Lycius and he works with him in the shipping business. The Duke of Manchester has always believed in Lucius. May is seeking a husband, one who will stay in America. ….so begins her struggle to gain Lucius’ heart.
A story of an alcoholic, who has changed his life, to a better one, and a naive, impressable young lady. Lucius tried to stay away from May, but she’ll have none of that. Lucius believes himself unlovable. May is out to prove him wrong.

Fast paced, quick read, approximately 162 pages, but very heart-wretching, with well-developed and engaging characters with a few unsavory characters, as well, although May is a bit naive. The plot was interesting with elements of mystery, drama, a bit of action, a bit of suspense, lots of romance and passion. Ms. Andresen manages to weave a bit of humor throughout this story.
Ms. Andresen never disappoints her readers, but she manages to write topics readers can relate to, about people who feel realistic and are believable. I enjoyed Lucius and May’s story. It had to be a difficult story to write, so, many strong feelings, in writing a story of an alcoholic and a young lady. I have a bit of a soft spot for alcoholics, their struggles, their circumstances and their will to overcome. My hat goes off to Tammy Andresen for writing a suburb story! Strongly recommended.

My thoughts:

HOME TO ROOST by Reina Torres is a delightful Clean Western Historical Romance. While #7, in the SWEETHEARTS OF JUBILEE SPRINGS, it can be read as a stand alone. This series
is a collaboration of multiple authors.

The town of Jubilee Springs started as a mining town in Bower, Colorado, but women were scarce, so the town’s attorney ordered a mail order bride.

A Novella, approximately 142 pages, but those pages are packed full of a forever kind of love, which he found unacceptable and pushed her aside. Now she has no where to go, what will she do? Despair and emotions are her only friends.

This is the journey of Brigid Belham, who gets caught in a rain storm and
Livingstone Quinn, a hermit who only wishes for peace and quiet.
An arrogant attorney, a mail order bride, a hermit, and a town that will not hire a women, makes HOME TO ROOST some exciting reading. I was glued to the pages of Brigid and Livingstone’s story, as they make sense of their feelings, face Brigid’s possible ruined reputation, her acceptance in town and the danger that lurks. HOME TO ROOST is a story of longing to belong somewhere, finding love, peace, acceptance and a place to call home.

Well written with engaging and an interesting cast of characters. Steady paced. The plot was well thought out and excuted. Although, a Novella, and a quick read, Ms. Torres manages to reward readers with a fantastic read, where nothings left out of a remarkable story of love, acceptance, healing, and finding a HEA. Oh and the animals added a perfect mix in the story. You couldn’t help but laugh at their antics.
Brigid and Livingston are a unique couple but find they have much in common.
Once again, Ms. Torres has written a story that will capture your heart and cause you to fly away to another time, place where women were not valued except as property, to some men anyway, but not all. HOME TO ROOST is a no brainer, it’s a must read. Fans of clean, sweet, historical western romance are sure to enjoy HOME TO ROOST. If you’re not a fan of sweet romance, give it a try, I think your enjoy your time in Bower, Colorado and Jubilee Springs. I look forward to going back soon. As the saying goes “ya’ll come back now”. I intend to, soon! Well done!!

My thoughts:

Highlander’s Claim: Time Travel Romance (The Matheson Warriors Book 2) by Joanne Wadsworth is a great Time Travel Romance. While book 2, I feel, it can read as a stand alone.

This is the journey of Ailith, the granddaughter of the King of Faes and Hunter Matheson, a warrior shifter. Ailith travels through time, when needed to help her half-blooded Earthbound kind. Ailith, has the ability to see visions of war and destruction before it unfolds. Now death is coming for one of the fae warriors so she is called to protect, but in order to save him, she must first figure out who he is, and which time he hails from. Enter, Hunter Matheson, a warrior shifter. Hunter is intrigued by Ailith. She arrives through a portal into the twenty-first century, not from his world, but from the year 1211.

Slow to begin with, to me, but picks up quickly.
Well written with great world building from the past to the future. The characters are enjoyable. While a Time Travel adventure, the characters feel realistic and believable. The plot was intriguing, very interesting, captivating and flows seamlessly and effortlessly. I was held in awe after the first few pages.

Ailith and Hunter, certainly belong together, rather soul mates or not. They make a unique and interesting couple. Sparks fly off the pages from their first meeting, the reader can feel the chemistry between them. The danger, consequences, drama, romance, chemistry, feuds, war, suspense and mystery, brings HIGHLANDER’S CLAIM, to a climatic conclusion. This book has so much to offer readers, not just Time Travel fans, but fans of Highlanders, as well. The Highlands are filled with myths, folklore, legends, and more, after all. Ms. Wadsworth is a talented author, who draws readers into her stories of romance, love, Time Travel and HEAs.
Once I got into this story, which didn’t take me but a couple of pages, BTW, I was absolutely delighted. Ms. Wadsworth did a great job with her details, her characterizations, and her story development, that I was truly in awe. Strongly recommended. Well done, Ms. Wadsworth.

This is the journey of Eliza Plowman, penniless and jilted with a colorful French vocabulary, who applies for a governess job with the charming Scottish rogue, Lord Alistair Kennedy, for his illegitimate children. Alistair decides Eliza is just what is children needs, so he hires her on the spot. She is way to pretty and feisty for his step – mother to accept, thus the trouble begins…..

The cast of characters are charming, enjoyable and will steal your heart, well of most them, anyway. The plot is fast paced, captivating and well written. At times it’s humorous, the children’s antics was laugh out loud, at others, dangerous but very intriguing. I was glued to the pages from the first page to the last. The Elusive Lady Winston, by Layna Pimentel, is a “A Regency Rendezvous Romance”, #5. Each book is from fabulous new series, by different authors and each book can be read as stand alone. A Novella that is as charming as it is enjoyable. The cast of characters are delightful, entertaining and believable. The plot is delightful, flows seamlessly and is very interesting. An unlikely attraction and a unlikely meeting catch these two characters off guard, and thus the story begins….
This is the story of Evan, the Earl of Chisholm and Lady Eliza Winston. A story of scandal, deceit, secrets, danger, passion and finding a HEA after years of sorrow and grief.
Fast paced with twists and turns that will keep the reader turning pages to see who does what and why. An unlikely villian, and second chances, makes THE ELUSIVE LADY WINSTON a captivating story. I enjoyed Evan and Eliza’s story very much. These two characters just may heal each other from their past to begin a new future, not without struggles, and danger, though. While, a novella, of approximately 151 pages, Ms. Pimentel manages to write a story without flaws, unanswered questions nor does it leave the reader wondering. My thoughts:

Raven’s Rise: A Medieval Romance (Swordcross Knights Book 3) by Elizabeth Cole is a mesmerizing Medieval Romance. Set in Britannia.
While, book 3 it can be read as a stand alone.
This is the journey of Lady Angelet d’Hiver, and Sir Rafe. Rafe is known as the Knight of the Raven, he is low-born but charming, he goes from tournament to tournament for the prize money. Angelet, is lonely, a widow, tries to be a good wife, mother, and daughter in law, now she is be sent to a nunnery, not by choice but by force or forfeit her son to her shrewd father-in-law. She also suffers from a condtion where she has beautiful visions of heaven and fits, which causes everyone at Dryton Manor to avoid her, their wary of her condition. Of course, her escort is Rafe and his new friends, for a large sum of money. Things go terribly wrong, the gold is not gold but a trunk full of rocks, someone is trying to kill Angelet and Rafe, but why? Who took the gold?

Well written, fast paced, with a enjoyable and engaging cast of characters. The plot was intriguing, captivating and truly held my interest throughout. I was glued to the pages from the first page to the last. A heartwarming tale, which will keep the reader in on an emotional roller coaster ride. A sad tale of adventure, passion, mystery, secrets, suspense, longing, friends to lovers, and finding a HEA through the chaos that surrounds Rafe and Angelet.
My only complaint was not learning more of what happened about Angelet’s affictions. I would have loved to learn more. Overall, RAVEN’S RISE is a most enjoyable and fantastic read. Ms. Cole manages to deliver a story that is emotional, heartwarming and fascinating. I enjoyed her writing style, her characters, and her storyline. It did feel a bit rushed at the end, but overall, a great read. Strongly recommended, especially for Medieval fans. A welcome distraction. More, please! I can’t wait to be on the next grand adventure in the SWORDCROSS KNIGHTS series. I hope to learn more of some of the secondary characters, such as Simon, and Octavian, just to name a few. Book Description

Too fast, too furious-and way too hot to handle . . .

Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she’s racing against Hayden.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense–and strictly forbidden–attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. Especially when she begins to doubt that Hayden has completely left his street life behind…

MY THOUGHTS:

Furious Rush is a high octane thrill ride from the drop of the flag to the slam-on-the-brakes- finish.  Its adrenaline rush doesn’t just come from the way hot vibes from Kenzie and Hayden but also from the racing, the multiple rivalries, and the mystery of the crashes.  Kenzie and Hayden are an explosive combination.  First a “princess vs. commoner” theme, it quickly escapes the confines of that premise as they both realize there is so much more “under the hood” for both of them.

Told in first person from Kenzie’s POV, the book is intimate even as it rushes through the race.  Kenzie is a motorcycle racer for her father’s team, Cox.  Standing against them is Benneti, her father’s former partner.  The ins and outs of that relationship are not just business but also deeply personal.  This is something that is imbued in all the racing and all the people.  Nothing is just business.  There are intensely personal reasons behind almost everything.  Against the backdrop of the Cox/Benneti rivalry, Kenzie and Hayden not only have to fight each other for spots in the races, but against all that rivalry means.

Myles and Nikki (Kenzie’s teammate and her mechanic) are strong and key characters in the book.  Kenzie’s relationship with each of them is turbulent and intense.  But Nikki and Myles have a relationship all their own.  Hayden’s street racing and familial relationships are also key.  The intense interconnectedness of everyone really amps up the tension.

It was incredibly easy to get drawn in to the intense emotions: the pain and struggle, the fear and confusion, the pride and the hurt.  But, this is a first person POV and Kenzie doesn’t have all the answers.  In fact, there are far more questions than answers, even when it’s “The End”.  Thank goodness this is the first book in a series because that ending just leaves me crying out to know what’s next.
