Andromeda’s Fall by Abigail Owen

Abigail Owen

Genre: Paranormal Contemporary Romance

Book Description (As per Amazon)

December 10, 2014
Andromeda Reynolds is being hunted. After witnessing her mother’s violent death at the hands of a pack of wolf shifters, Andie has devoted her life to protecting her community of cougar shifters from a similar fate. But now, a greater threat lies within her own pack, and she must run. If she stays, Kyle Carstairs will force their mating, seeking the added political power their union would provide.Andie would rather chew off her own foot than end up with Kyle. Though, knowing him, she won’t live long either way. Andie’s only hope of survival is to mate Jaxon Keller, the Alpha of the Keller Dare with which she is seeking asylum. But before she can get to him, Andie must first go through A.J., one of the Alpha’s Protectors. What Andie doesn’t realize is that A.J. has secrets of his own. All Andie knows is that the incredibly frustrating shifter insists on challenging her story, her skills, her trust… and her heart.
My Thoughts:
I was given this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. While Abigail Owen is a new to me author, PNR is not. I thoroughly enjoy PNR and shifters in particular. Our main character Andromeda (Andie) isn’t your female in distress type. Thank heavens for that. She has a smart mouth and movements to back them up! She’s a tough chic. After witnessing her mother’s murder, she vows not to let anyone else die.
The characters are well formed, but it’s a plot that has been played a few times before. Even with that being said I found AF a very fast paced read. Only one steamy sexy scene was actually in print. Most were left up to our imaginations. Which I believe will make it catching to a wider group of readers. I am intrigued to read the next in this Shadowcat Nation Series.

Book Description:  (from Amazon)

Publication Date: November 3, 2014

Werewolf Aribella Lupari-Gray is on her long-awaited honeymoon. Or at least, that was the plan. When she and Mason land in Ireland just before Christmas, their dream holiday turns into a nightmare: the pack’s werewolf children have all vanished.

To top it off, the werewolf king—who was supposed to sanctify Ari’s marriage to a human—is away searching for the missing pups and may not return in time to grant his official blessing, jeopardizing her family’s future status within the pack.

If things don’t change fast, there may not even be a marriage to bless. Ari’s desire to help puts her life—and her relationship with Mason—in jeopardy. With Mason gone, presumably back to the States and Christmas on the doorstep, Ari sets out on one final mission to find the lost pups. Her life and the pack’s young in the balance, will Ari be able to perform a holiday miracle or will she die trying?
My Thoughts:
This is my very first book of Dylan Newton, and I am so already caught up in the writing style.  Ari is the Alpha female and with her shapeshifter husband travel to Ireland to have their marriage blessed so that their children could be able to take their respective places in the pack. While over in Ireland, they are brought into the disappearance of all the young ones. Ari is known for being the best tracker. While not giving this away, the story is full of twists and turns and doesn’t disappoint. I look forward to reading more of this author.

Years ago, after tragedy struck Jamie Lathan’s family, fosterling Caitrin Fletcher was sent home, out of danger. Heartbroken, young Jamie never expected to see her again. He certainly never imagined he’d be called upon to escort her to be betrothed to another man.

But now, as their attraction reignites during the trip, Jamie’s longing for Caitrin deepens, and he despairs to lose her again. The secret he hides, however, may prevent any chance for a future with her. Can Jamie find a way to claim her himself without starting a war involving three clans?

Caitrin is torn between her duty to make the marriage her father wants and her feelings for Jamie, the lad she’s loved for years. When she meets the man her father has chosen, her secret Highland talent tells her he cannot be trusted. Can she refuse the powerful lord without revealing how she knows he’s lying…about nearly everything?

HIGHLAND TROTH by Willa Blair is an exciting fast paced Scottish Historical Romance with some Paranormal elements. #3 in the “Highland Talents” series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Highland Seer”, “Highland Healer” and “Highland Gift” (1.5)novella.  Set in against a 1502 Scotland backdrop.
Fast paced, adventure filled Scottish romance. Be ready to be swept away into the Scottish Highlands. Filled with danger, romance, secrets, intrigue, suspense, betrayal and passion.
This is Jamie Lathan and Caitrin Fletcher’s story. Caitrin’s secret talent is she can feel someone’s feelings. Together, Jamie and Caitrin find not only Caitrin’s intended isn’t want he is supposed to be, but he is a danger to not only his intended but to her clan and Jamie’s clan as well.
I loved the way Jamie is determined to protect Caitrin at all cost, including causing a war between clans. Caitrin, finds she has more courage than she first thought. Will Jamie and Caitrin find their happy ever after? You MUST read this beautifully written tale of intrigue, passion and romance. Ms. Blair is a wonderful storyteller who weave a bit of paranormal with realistic romance. She holds her readers in awe, as they seat on the edge of their seats reading. Well written with passion, emotion and character. Well done, indeed! I love this series, and can’t wait to read the next Willa Blair story. Highly recommend this Scottish Historical Romance!

So I Married a WerewolfTitle:  SO I MARRIED A WEREWOLF

Author: Kristin Miller

Publisher: Entangled: Covet

Published Date: July 28, 2014

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Source:  This book was received for the purpose of an honest review.

Carter Griffin, enforcing officer for the Seattle Wolf Pack, has a problem. He’s been offered the promotion of his dreams…if he can find a wife to prove he’s over his playboy ways. But Carter’s already walked the matrimonial road and bought the stinkin’ T-shirt. Besides, a werewolf only gets one fated mate. Been there, done that.

All werewolf dog trainer Faith Hamilton wants to do is earn enough green stuff to put her younger brother through college. Okay, okay, so she also totally wants Carter, her sexy next-door neighbor, to look at her as more than a friend. It’s too bad size 12 and plain isn’t his type. At all.

The two friends strike a deal to help one another out. They must face a variety of challenges from a psycho ex-girlfriend to a Yorkie with a shoe fetish…and that pesky problem of only having one-fated mate in a lifetime. Will a relationship ruin their friendship…or spark a love neither anticipated?

From the day the hot guy next door moved in Faith knew she was attracted to this man.  The two, both shifters, were great friends, but it pained Faith to see Carter with all these women who were nothing like her.  How could she compete with a Barbie doll when she was a short curvy girl.

Carter wanting to get a promotion needed to impress the big guys with a mate.  He told his boss that he was engaged.  Where would he find someone to help him get the job and fake an engagement.  He turned to Faith for help.  The two make an agreement, but Faith was hoping he would really love her as she has been in love with him their whole friendship.

I was really impressed with this book.  It has everything, Sex, Laughter, tears, friendship and shifters.  It was a story about love and commitment or a fear of commitment.  I loved the way the two characters interacted.  I also enjoyed Faith grow into a happy self satisfied woman.  We watched them become the best people they could be and that made them the perfect couple. This book is paranormal romance, but I would say even for a romance lover give this one try.   A great read!!

THE HEALER’S GIFT by Willa Blair is a captivating Scottish Medieval Historical Romance with Paranormal elements.  #1.5 in the “Highland Talents” series, but can be read as a stand alone. Although, I would strongly recommend reading “Highland Healer” and “Highland Seer”.

Filled with danger, sensual tension, mystery, suspense, secrets, and the power of love.

Meet, Coira MacDugall, who we met in “Highland Healer”, exiled back to her clan, she was fatally wounded and left with a power of her own, but is it a curse or a blessing. Logen MacDugall, the new MacDugall Laird and is in grave danger. He must find whoever killed the other three previous Lairds, if he intends to live long enough to save the clan. Coira is a complication, she is an outcast, sent back to the clan in disgrace with a new gift. But can she save Logen, whom she is deeply attracted to.

Logen and Coira are a captivating couple from the beginning to the end. This is a complex, captivating tale of intrigue, secrets, sensual tension, passion and danger. I was intrigued by the fact that Coira, who was not so nice in “Highland Seer”, gets her HEA, hopefully. Redemption, healing and forgiveness is at her fingertips. Ms. Blair is a captivating and talented storyteller. She pulls the reader into her stories and holds them in awe. A breathtaking tale of Highland magic, lust, intrigue and love. Love this series! Can hardly wait for the next installment. Excellent storytelling with exciting characters and an intriguing storyline! Wickedly delicious! Received for an honest review from the author.

Review~ Dream On by M. Kircher

21524224Title: Dream On

Author: M. Kircher

Publisher: Astraea Press

Publication Date: April 20, 2014

Genre: Paranormal

Source: Received for an honest review.

Book Description Courtesy of Amazon:

Seventeen-year-old dreamwalker, Em, might have to choose—leave her mother forever in the dreamworld or save the life of hot, rebel Gabe.

Emily Dal Monte and her mother, Lily, are special. They’re humans with a special glitch in their genetic code that allows them to explore the fantastic, and often terrifying, world of their dreams for as long as they choose to remain asleep. But when Em’s father is killed in a tragic accident and her distraught mother loses herself more and more in the dreams of her crumbling mind, Em is forced to support the two of them the only way she knows how, by writing down her mother’s amazing dreams and selling them as books. Enter Gabriel Sobel, the punk newcomer at Em’s high school who realizes Em is the daughter of his favorite, reclusive author. Gabe can’t figure out why Em keeps brushing him off and makes it his mission to find out what’s really going on at the Dal Monte household. He stumbles upon their shocking family secret just as Lily takes a turn for the worse. It’s up to Em, Gabe, and one very nosy book editor to hop from one extraordinary dream to the next, to find Lily and convince her to wake up before she loses her mind…and before Em loses her first chance at love.

My Thoughts:

The premise behind this book is really interesting and I think the author pulls that part off pretty nicely. It takes an elaborate imagination to think up some of the settings in this story. The dialogue was a bit weak though and some of the situations the characters were in (outside of the paranormal aspect) just didn’t seem realistic. Emily is a bit dramatic at times, and overly sensitive to some of the comments made by Gabe. Gabe was, overall, my favorite character. Quirky, fun-loving, and punkish were his best traits, though he did have some pushiness as well. As the description states, he “makes it is mission” to figure out what’s going on at Em’s house… stalker much? I just don’t see him being that nosy with so little interaction between the two prior to that point in the story.

Overall, not a bad story, just not as full as it could have been. This writer definitely has potential, and I definitely recommend her as a new author to read. Her other series is absolutely worth perusing. Received for an honest review.
