This new historical romance from May McGoldrick pits one spirited lass against her biggest challenge yet: a Highland lord who has no desire to lose his heart.

Innes Munro has the ability to “read” a person’s past simply by touching them, but her gift comes with a heavy price: her freedom. Forced to stay at desolate Castle Girnigoe, Innes never expects to be drawn to the wounded warrior who haunts its dark passages and challenges her at every turn.

Conall Sinclair, the earl of Caithness, carries the scars of battles with the English and the lash marks of their dungeons, but the wounds that fester within give him even greater pain. Isolating himself from his clan and the rest of the world in a tower perched on the wild Scottish coast, Conall is reluctant to let the spirited Innes close to him, however neither can deny the growing passion that ignites with every look, every touch.

But can Conall ever love a woman who can read his darkest secrets and feel the pain he hides… and can love really tame all fears? As dangerous forces close in, Conall and Innes must take the ultimate leap of faith and forge a bond of trust that will save them both…or lose each other forever.

My Thoughts:

Taming the Highlander by May McGoldrick is a captivating addition to her mesmerizing Medieval Historical Romance, “The Scottish Relic” Trilogy, Book 2. But can be easily be read as a stand alone. However, I would definitely suggest reading Book 1, “Much Ado About Highlanders”, which is another fantastic Scottish Historical Romance. It sets up some background for the rest of this Trilogy. “Taming the Highlander” is set against the backdrop of the Wild Scottish coast.

Conall Sinclair, is the actual earl of Caithness, however, he has turned the reign of his title and his clan to his younger brother. Conall carries the desperation, the hurt, the battle scars, even the lash marks from being in an English dungeon, as a prisoner, after the devastating battle with heavy losses against the English. He carries much guilt.

Innes Munro, has a gift, that could have her charged as a “witch”. She has the ability to “read” a person’s past simply by touching them. She also has the second piece of the Scottish Relic others are seaching for and willing to kill, whomever has the Relic. It carries some powerful knowledge, that some would kill to obtain.
Conall finds that Innes calms his inner beast and soothes his tortured soul. He is attracted to her. from the time he meets her, as Innes is to him. She can feel his pain and inner angst. Sparks fly, passion ignites and love blossoms. But can Innes be saved from the man pursuing the Relic holders? Can Innes and Conell find their HEA or will they lose all?
Some of the characters from “Much Ado About Highlanders” re-appear.

A captivating, mesmerizing and intriguing Scottish tale that will have the reader’s heart pounding, as they turn pages of “Taming the Highlander.
From the first page to the last and beyond, readers are sure to be captivated with the characters, and the compelling and powerful storyline.
Ms. McGoldrick is a brillant and masterful storyteller. Fans of Scottish myths, Highlanders, intrigue, adventure and romance will be captivated by “Taming the Highlander”. Highly recommended! I can’t wait to read the finale of “The Scottish Relic” Trilogy. A must read Scottish Romance with a element of the Paranormal! Awesome read!.

Dead men don’t tell tales. They wail them from the top of the tallest tower.

Darke of Night, Book 2

Lady Guinevere (Guin) Harvey would much rather be writing gothic tales of intrigue and adventure than dancing attendance on her sister, the newly married Duchess of Silberwald. Until they arrive at Silberwald Castle, a place of enchanting perfection—and gothic shadows.

Ghostly groans and clanking chains lead Guin through ancient, misshapen passages to one of the castle’s many mysteries: a cell where the odd but charming Kasimir is kept chained like an animal. He could be a figment of her vivid dreams, the ghost of a dead, mad prince, or just a political prisoner no one wants to talk about.

Desperate to discover what beast is howling such soul-chilling cries, Guin summons the medium Barbara Darke. But by the time Barbara arrives, Guin can no longer distinguish dream from reality, friend from enemy. Even with all Barbara’s unique talents, they have to face new dangers before they finally discover the terrifying truth of Silberwald Castle.

Warning: Gives new meaning to falling madly in love…

My Thoughts:

The Prisoner of Silverwood Castle (Darke of Night, Book 2) by Marie Treanor is an interesting Paranormal Historical Romance set against the backdrop of Silberwald Castle. Can be read as a stand alone, with re-appearing characters from “Death of Treanor Hall”.

“Dead men don’t tell tales. They wail them from the top of the tallest tower.”

Lady Guinevere (Guin) Harvey is the sister, of the newly married Duchess of Silberwald. A Gothic writer, and playing attendence on her sister at Silberwald Castle. Which, is magnificent, intriguing, with ghostly shadows, secrets, clanging chains, and moaning sounds.

Guin asks, medium Barbara Darke, for her skills in distinguishing ghosts, fiction from reality, friend from foe and learning the truth of Silberwald Castle and all within.

Guin finds, Kasimir, who is charming, if a bit odd, kept chained like an animal in the dungeon of the Castle is he real, a ghost, a political prisoner, a mad prince, or a figment of Guin’s imagination? Why is he chained, or is it just a vivid dream?

Will Guin and Barbara find the truth of Silberwald Castle, before it’s too late?

Steady paced, well written with well-developed characters, diversity, intrigue, adventure, and secrets. Yes, and ghosts, unanswered questions, and dangerous adventure.

Readers will get lost in this tale of ghostly intrigue, passion and finding a HEA. What a unique but mesmerizing tale! Well worth the time to read. I look forward to see, what’s next in this intricately woven, and highly intriguing tale.

Book 4 (Rumpelstiltskin)
Kin de Bar (Rumpelstiltskin) is the lucky sibling until the old witch, Hecuba decides to curse him as well. While trying to save a book of alchemy from the witch, the book disintegrates in his hands and turns his chain mail gauntlets gold. Little does he know that his curse is now the touch of gold, and only by wearing the gauntlets can he stop it from happening.
Olivia de Mil is a spinster – a woman who spins wool into yarn. At the wedding of Stefan de Bar, her foolish, drunken father, the miller, brags that she can spin wool into gold. A visiting baron hears this and decides he will marry the girl if what the miller says is true. If not, they will both be beheaded. He asks Kin to escort the girl to his castle and the knight can see right through Olivia’s father’s lie. But now that Kin has the ability to do the chore for her, he puts his curse to work thinking of it as a gift instead. His motive to help the beautiful woman is only to have her for himself. And when the greed that comes with his curse starts to take over, secrets are revealed and Olivia’s life is in danger.
Can a woman with a problem turn to a knight for help, or will his curse consume him, leaving him with more problems than he can handle from having a Touch of Gold?

MY THOUGHTS :

Touch of Gold by Elizabeth Rose is a wonderful varation on an old tale “Rumpelstiltskin” with a tangled twist. #4 in Ms. Rose’s exciting “Tangled Tales “series, while it can be read as a stand alone, I’d highly suggest the series be read in its entirety and in order. Although, it is easy follow, on its own. See, #1, “Lady and the Wolf (Little Red Riding Hood)”-Lord Hugh de Bar (Wolf)and Lady Winifred (Red) Chaserton, #2, “Just a Kiss(The Frog Prince)”-Sir Arnon de Bar and Freya Fane, and #3, “Lord Beast ( Beauty and the Beast)”-Stefan de Bar and Bonnibel of Breckenridge.

This amazing, uniquely written series is the story of the curse of the seven de Bar siblings. Each will be or has been cursed by the old witch, Hecuba.

Kin de Bar (Rumpelstiltskin),a Knight who is considered the lucky sibling until he is cursed with the touch of gold and greed. Olivia de Mil is a spinster, who spins wool into yarn. Her father, the miller, boasts she can turn wool into gold. And so the tale begins…

A quick read, steady paced with twists and turns, danger, greed, a curse, where the spell can only be broken by one thing, secrets will be revealed, danger lurks, passion flares, but can love find a way. Can Kin and Olivia overcome the curse to find their HEA, or will Kin’s greed destroy them both?

The characters are engaging, flawed and captivating. The storyline is unique, a twist on an old Fairy Tale, that will keep readers entranced and captivated. Each sibling and each tale keeps getting better and better. More enchanting with each sibling. I can hardly wait to see what awaits the next de Bar sibling.

An exciting Medevial Paranormal/Fantasy Historical Romance! Think the
T.V. series “Story Brook” meets Rumpelstiltskin, with a twist. If you enjoyed the “Story Brook” series, you are sure to enjoy this amazing, captivating series.
Once again Ms. Rose will captivate readers with her thrilling and exhilarating spin on this old Fairy tale. Another uniquely and spellbinding tale. An absolute wickedly delightful tale! More, please! WOW! I simply love this series!

THE DEAD OF HAGGARD HALL by Marie Treanor…a review

The Dead of Haggard Hall (Darke of Night Book 1) by Marie Treanor

Date of Publication: July 26, 2016

Blurb

Spirit possession is easy to remedy. Possession of the heart is another matter.

Darke of Night, Book 1

After vicar’s widow and natural medium Barbara Darke loses her respectable teaching position, she reluctantly agrees to become companion to her former pupil Emily, now the bride of young Sir Arthur Haggard.

Once settled at Haggard Hall, Barbara finds her friend is beset by ghostly voices and unexplained deaths. In a maelstrom of dark spirits and wicked emotions, Barbara battles to lay Emily’s ghosts to rest-both hampered and helped by Arthur’s skeptical cousin Patrick, who provokes and attracts her in equal measure.

It would be a mistake to trust a secretive, guilt-ridden man suspected of driving his wife to suicide, if not outright murdering her. And it could well be lethal to give in to her own desires, confused as they often are with the lusts of the dead.

But Arthur and Emily are in genuine physical danger, and suspicion is falling closer and closer to Patrick-the man who haunts Barbara’s sensual dreams. The man who stands to inherit Haggard Hall.

Warning: Contains a medium whose body is open season for spirit possession, and a scandal-ridden journalist who only believes what he can see-and touch.

There can be only one…for both of them.

Year 1210, Scottish Highlands.

Annella, the fae-blooded daughter of a warrior, holds the spirit-walker ability. With her fae skill, she has only one goal, to find the man who captured her father and brother and seek retribution. The last thing she expects though is to connect within her dreams with an infuriatingly rugged Highlander of shifter blood who lives over eight-hundred years in the future. Her destiny is set, to free her nearest and dearest, although to find them she must now enlist the aid of the warrior from the future. He’s the best tracker there is, and also her best chance at finding them.

Highland warrior shifter Alec Matheson meets the most intriguing lass who visits him in his dreams, a woman who also poses the greatest challenge. His soul bound mate has come to him during her greatest time of need, and now he must travel back through time to aid her. His lithe, golden-haired enchantress wears lad’s clothing and is swift with the sword and trained in all manner of warfare. She is also nothing like he expects, yet everything he has ever desired.

Now, he must make certain they both survive her perilous mission, for seeking retribution could ensure their death, or unite their spirited souls. Let the battle for love begin.

CLAN MATHESON SERIES
Highlander’s Kiss, #1
Highlander’s Heart, #2
Highlander’s Sword, #3

My Thoughts

This series titled “Clan Matheson”, is a spinoff series from “The Matheson Brothers”. #3 in the “Clan Matheson”series, but can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend reading the “Clan Matheson” as well, for background information. A “Paranormal Bear Shifter Romance”.
Fast paced, adventure filled, passion filled and unique. The author did a wonderful job of connecting the past with the future to tell an amazing, yet, complex tale with many twists and turns. The characters flew off the pages, were very intriguing and interesting. The storyline is compelling, with many challenges and a unique complexity that will have fans turning pages. I can’t wait for Ronan and Kylie’s story. And to learn the rest of the story…
Powerful, but be warned it’s steamy, passionate and has a hulky Bear Shifter as well as a feisty Dream walker. Fans of Paranormal Romance, Shifters, Dream Walker, Highlanders, Faes, Historical romance and danger will enjoy “Highlander’s Sword”. A keeper!
