He loved her beyond anything and everything—precisely why he couldn’t ever marry her.

A wounded hero.

Love—sentimental drivel for insipid, weak, feckless fools.

Since an explosion ravaged Captain Morgan Le Draco’s face and cost him his commission in the Royal Dragoons, he’s fortified himself behind an impenetrable rampart of cynicism and distrust. Now destitute and shunned by the very society that once lauded his heroics, he’s put aside all thoughts of marrying and having a family. Until he risks his life to save a drowning woman. At once, Morgan knows Shona’s the balm for his tortured soul, but as a wealthy, titled noblewoman, she’s too far above his humble station and can never be his.

An intrepid wallflower.

Love—a treasured gift reserved for those beautiful of form and face.

Scorned and ridiculed most of her adult life, Shona, Lady Atterberry believes she’s utterly undesirable and is reconciled to spinsterhood. She hides her spirited temperament beneath a veneer of gauche shyness, until a strapping, scarred stranger saves her life, and she can’t deny her immediate, powerful, and sensual attraction to him. Despite how ill-suited they are and innuendos that Captain Le Draco is a fortune-hunter, she cannot escape her growing fascination.

Two damaged souls searching for love.

Others are determined to keep them apart, and Shona is goaded into placing a wicked wager. One that sets her upon a ruinous path and alienates the only man who might have ever loved her. Is true love enough to put their pasts behind them, to learn to trust, and heal their wounded hearts?

Warning: This book contains one devilish, seemingly irredeemable rogue, an on-the-shelf wallflower who dabbles in wicked wagers, an unexpected and most enticing swim in a lake, a villainess you’ll want to shove into said lake, and a cast of captivating secondary characters with their own tantalizing romantic tales.

For a heartwarming, inspiring story about the power of love, purchase your copy today of THE WALLFLOWER’S WICKED WAGER, the fifth installment in Collette Cameron’s romantic historical Regencies A Waltz with a Rogue Novella series.

My thoughts:

THE WALLFLOWER’S WICKED WAGER by Collette Cameron is another skillfully written story by this author. Set at Davenswood Court, Buckinghamshire in 1891. A WALTZ WITH A ROGUE novella.
Brilliantly and masterfully written story with flawed characters, raw emotions, and the the power of love. The hero is a ruggedly sexy, strong and protective. The heroine is feisty, a bit shy, has low self esteem, due to abuse by her mother, but she becomes brave and brazen, to say the least.

This is the story of Captain Morgan Le Draco, a wounded hero, who suffered horribly from fire, during the war, which scarred his face and Shona, a intrepid wallflower. Two damaged souls in search of love, find each other.
I was totally charmed by these characters.

A great story with all the drama, emotions and conflict, a reader would wish for in a Historical Romance. As always, Ms. Collette has some humorous moments included, which adds to the charms of this cute and compelling story. A must read!!

Ms. Cameron is one of my favorite Historical Romance authors. She writes with such enthusiasm, understanding of human emotions, and adds a touch of humor, that leaves the reader breathless. A not to miss read!

My thoughts:

The Laird’s Reckoning by Jennifer Bray-Weber is a beautifully written Pirate Romance set in 1730. “Romancing the Pirate” #6, but can be read as a stand alone.
A quick read, with a cast of characters that will take your breath away. They are believable, engaging and strong characters. I was glued to the pages from the first sentence to the last. I connected with these colorful characters. Just couldn’t stop turning pages. The plot is filled with heart-pounding action, adventure, danger and romance. There are a some humorous moments to me, mixed in with the excitement of pirate fighting, passionate kisses, betrayal and a masterfully written love story.
“The Laird’s Reckoning” in humble opinion is a must read. Great for an afternoon read at the beach, where you can hear the ocean and feel the breeze, and image pirates attacking your peaceful world, or, you could read it anywhere.

Jennifer Bray-Weber is a masterful storyteller who writes brilliantly and passionately. She knows how to bring her point across to her readers, without leaving out any of the story. She does not disappoint her readers.
I highly recommend this quick read.

My thoughts:

Her Favorite Duke by Jess Michaels is a sizzling but sweet Regency Romance. While, this is #2 in the series, “The 1797 Club” it can be read as a stand alone. See, “Her Daring Duke”, #1.

This is the story of Simon Greene, Duke of Crestwood, Margaret Rylon (Meg) who has been friends since childhood,
James, Duke of Abernathe, Meg’s brother and Graham, the Duke of Northfield, a other friend. Graham, James, and Simon are all part of the 1797 Club, however, Simon and Graham are the best of friends. Simon, has always been considered the peacemaker of the group, but in reality he appears a bit of a spineless coward, toward his feelings for Meg. Meg becomes betrothed to Graham, by her brother, James, none knowing her true feelings for Simon, oh, they suspect but go forward with there plans, anyway. To be honest James, suspects she just has a childhood infatuation for Simon.

Fast forward seven years later….. Meg and Graham finally set their wedding date. BTW Graham is not in love with Meg either. Simon guards his feelings for Meg until they’re caught in a compromising position, the wedding is off, Meg and Simon must marry. Yay!! Simon guards his feelings toward Meg, for fear of getting hurt. But his friendship is ended between him and Graham.

An unusual story to me, how many men or ladies, in fact, wait seven years before setting a wedding date? The reader is given the impression Graham had no amorous affairs, what, for seven years? Unbelievable, to me, but I suppose it could happen. Then there’s Meg, who does not reveal her true feeling, she’s waiting for Simon to step forward, and announce his feelings toward her. Simon is sweet, but an utter coward when it comes to his feelings toward Meg. So, they’d all rather be misable for the rest of their lives, then tell the truth. Oh, Graham, is marrying Meg to yes, you got it, to please his friend James. They are all rather young, in their teens, Meg’s sixteen, you understand their feelings run hot and cold, right?

While, this was not my favorite of Jess Michaels’ story, it was rather a sweet story, once you get pass all the other stuff. It’s a sizzling love story, with many complicated triangles.
A true love story with all the complications of a love triangle, while only two of them is truly in love. So, I guess, you wouldn’t call it a love triangle. The reader does learn why Simon is so guarded with his feelings.

No cliffnanger, however, I was left with a few unanswered questions. Such as what happens to Graham, and Simon’s hateful mother, the old Duchess of Crestwood.
The reader is given the impression, from the back of the book that, Graham’s story is next, which, I anticipate reading.
Please don’t get me wrong, I adore Ms. Michaels’ stories, “Her Favorite Duke” was a bit hard connect to the characters and grip the plot, to me, however I’d still recommend reading it, especially those who enjoy romance, there is a bit of mystery to why Simon guards his feelings. A good read!

“A Kiss For Charity first appeared in the Bluestocking Belles’ 2016 box set, Holly and Hopeful Hearts. It’s now available for individual sale. Bonus material includes several original pieces published on the Belles’ blog the Teatime Tattler.”

A quick read about Young widow, Grace, Lady de Courtenay and Lord Nicholas Lacey, a widower whose wife died in a tragic accident.

My thoughts:

The Lord’s Captive: Border Series Book 2 (Volume 2) by Cecelia Mecca is another interesting and compelling Medieval Romance. I feel it can easily be read as a stand alone.

This is the story of Sir Bryce Waryn and Lady Catrina Kerr. Bryce is not the eldest brother, Geoffrey is, but Geoffrey gives the lands to Bryce. Geoffrey has married and is lord of his new wife’s lands. So Bryce is now the Lord of Bristol Manor. Immediately after the battle to regain what was took from them, two men happen to find an injured Catrina, she apparently survived the fierce battle that occurred at Bristol Manor, a few hours prior to being found. She has no memory of who she is nor why she was left in the ditch, so the men brought her back to the Manor. Against Bryce’s better judgment he let’s her stay to gain her strength, heal from her injuries and hopefully regain her memory. Immediately, Bryce and Catrina have a connection, which either understands nor care to act upon, at first. But the heart can be a fickle thing. Then when Bryce learns Catrina is his enemy’s daughter, he decides to hold her as his hostage. Catrina is a strong-willed lass who knows how to fight, afterall, she has brothers. She’s determined to escape, to save Bryce and his newly formed clan from more devastration. But Bryce is determined to keep Catrina, for his own. So another struggle ensures at Bristol Manor, this one between Bryce and Catrina. Will Catrina and Bryce find their HEA? Or will they give up all to protect and save those they love?

Steady paced, tale with engaging, well thought out characters and an interesting storyline. I found the plot to be intriguing as well as exciting. Ms. Mecca gives her readers a story of danger, romance, passion, betrayal, a bit of humor, a bit of suspense, and the power of love against all odds. I thoroughly enjoyed “The Lord’s Captive” and watching Bryce and Catrina fight their feelings, the inner turmoil that is against their true feelings and the safety of their clan, is truly overwhelming. There are a few laugh out moments. Like when Catrina blackens Bryce’s eye.
I would strongly recommend reading “The Lord’s Captive”, of you enjoy Medieval Romance, the struggle to find a HEA, and fight to keep what another clan craves. I can hardly wait to read more of Cecelia Mecca and her stories. She is definitely an author to watch for in the future. A heartwarming story. Another must read Medieval Romance!

My thoughts:

The Highlander’s Conquest (Stolen Bride #2) by Eliza Knight is a fantastic Medieval Scottish Romance set in England and Scotland. While, #2, it can be read as a stand alone. If you’ve not had a chance to read “The Highlander’s Reward”, #1, I’d definitely suggest reading it as well, as this is the story of Blane Sutherland, younger brother to the Laird of Sutherland, who disguises himself as an Englishman to sale the Sutherland’s wool in England. So when it became necessary to retrieve his brother’s wife’s younger sister, of course, Blane was the man to cross the border and retrieve her, bring her to Scotland to reunite with her sister and father, who had been wounded. Lady Aliah de Mowbray, is feisty, doesn’t trust the barbarian Scots, beautiful, she’s been protected all her life, and plans to vow her life to the church, but when danger persists, she shows Blane she can handle a bow and arrow, just like her sister. Aliah and Blane are a wonderful couple, one who deserves their HEA, their pull toward each other kept me turning the pages, from the beginning to the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed “The Higlander’s Conquest”. Ms. Knight has done it again with her vivid details, her strong characters, and her engaging story. I strongly recommend “The Highlander’s Conquest”. What a great read by Eliza Knight!!

Sorcha Ramsay is as willful as she is beautiful, and she has mastered the art of convincing others to do her bidding. She coerces a few guards to bring her on a hunting trip, but when an unidentified archer targets them, Sorcha is restricted to the castle grounds. Worse, she’s assigned a lout of a guardian—Cailean, the maddeningly handsome guard who saved her from the archer—until her sire returns from a visit to the Grants. How can she show her sire, the infamous Logan Ramsay, she’s grown up if she’s not allowed her freedom?

Though he intends never to marry, Cailean finds himself captivated by Sorcha’s beauty and brash charm. He’s determined to keep her safe from the archer, whether she wants him to or not. Then Sorcha’s sire returns with news that has the potential to ignite the Highlands: Laird Alexander Grant has been badly injured. Trouble is brewing, and the archer, who may or may not be connected to a larger plot against the Ramsays and the Grants, continues to target Sorcha.

As the danger mounts and Cailean and Sorcha are brought together again and again, their heated attraction becomes a deeper connection. But can Cailean convince Logan, the most fearsome man in the Highlands, that he is a worthy match for his firstborn daughter?
My Thoughts:

Sorcha (The Highland Clan) Book 8 by Keira Montclair is an absolute pleasure to read. Can be read as a stand alone. Ms. Montclair has written a story that has so much to offer readers, it has danger, adventure, drama, excitement, a bit of humor, some witty banter and romance.
I was pulled into Cailean McAdam and Sorcha Ramsay’s story from the very beginning. Sorcha has gone from a wee lassie to a grown lass, which perturbes her father, Logan, the most feared man in the Highlands. He is legendary. Cailean is proud, strong and brave, a guard for the Ramsay’s, and also cares deeply for Sorcha, but he’s not in her social class, he’s a mere guard. Can he convince Logan he is a worthy suitor? Has Sorcha’s feelings grown to love? Will they survive the danger they are facing, from unknown assailants?

Readers, will simply be factinated and thrilled as they are reading, “Sorcha”. I myself was astonished at Cailean and Sorcha’s young love and how Cailean finally gave in to marriage, family, love, and how he was determined to prove his love, even to the point of nearly dying. Friendship can turn to a strong and determined love. The antics of Logan was hilarious at times, sad at others, as he fears losing his beloved daughter. Every father’s nightmare.

I highly recommend this fast paced, thrilling and highly anticipated story. It has everything a romance reader could possibly wish in a Scottish Romance, and more. Brilliantly and masterfully written. The cast of characters were fantastic, even the villains were quiet convincing, which only added to Cailean
and Sorcha’a story.
Keira Montclair is one of my go to Medieval Scottish Romance authors. She never disappoints me, she always leaves me in absolute awe. What a mesmerizing story!! Well done, Ms. Montclair! I can’t wait to read the next grand adventure. Powerful and compelling. A definite must read for fans of Scottish Romance.
