My Thoughts:

Taming a Savage Gentleman: Taming the Heart Series by Tammy Andresen is an extremely exciting Regency Romance. Book 5 in the “Taming the Heart” series, but it can be read as a stand alone. Some of the characters appear from previous books, but the reader will not be lost reading this one.
An unconventional acquaintance leads to a a great deal of trouble for both the H/H in “Taming a Savage Gentleman”.

This is the story of Flora, Baroness Segrave, a witty, beautiful, smart and weathy young lady, who needs a husband or so society deems in order to keep her and her mother safe and Tom Maddox, a second son and spare who lives his life outside the confines of society, to his families unhappiness, they are hoping a marriage will settle him down. He has been asked to look after Flora and her mother on their voyage to Scotland, by his cousin, Barrett Maddox, the Duke of Manchester. Then there’s the Earl of Loudoun, who wishes to court and marry Flora, he’s deeply in debt, ignoring fool it would seem and a gambler, whose lost everything unless he finds a weathy wife, and quickly. He meets Flora’s needs perfectly or so it would appear. She wants a man who will allow her to manage her estates, her herself without any inference from her husband. But things change…..

Well written with well developed charatcers, the banter between Flora and Tom is perfect, to this reader, definitely carries the story along, nicely. The plot flows smoothly and without gaps. The mystery, suspense, sensual attractions, and sea adventure makes this story fast paced, well thought out and perfect for an afternoon adventure. I was glued to the pages of Tom and Flora’s story from the beginning to the end, definitely a most entertaining Regency read.

Once again Ms. Andresen met my expectations with her witty banter, her characters and her enticing and endearing plot. A wonderful story of romance, trouble, a bit of danger, finding love, and redemption. “Taming a Savage Gentleman” has something for everyone. A quick, enjoyable and most satisfying Regency.
I can’t wait to read the next adventure.
Tammy Andresen is another of my favorite Regency authors, she never disappoints me. I always look forward to her next inspiring story. Another great read by Tammy Andresen!!

Description

The only happiness in life is to love and be loved…

Set in the Loire Valley in 1850, Jane Grey tells the story of a frustrated painter and a beleaguered English governess who comes to France to tutor a flirtatious young heiress in the social graces. Jane meets Matthew Brontë, a wealthy count and gifted painter, the same way Jane Eyre met Edward Rochester in the book our Jane is reading at the time. Jane finds it uncannier still that Matthew is a cousin to the author of Jane Eyre.

As the weeks pass, Jane and Matthew discover they have much in common. They seem perfectly suited, apart from one significant snag: Matthew can’t marry without forfeiting his fortune, and Jane can only marry a man with the means to support her and her dependent relations back in England.

When faced with the choice between love and money, which will each of them choose?

My Thoughts:

Jane Grey: A Homage to the Brontë Classics (The Brontë Brothers Book 1) by Nina Mason, set in the Loire Valley, France and England in 1850.
In “Jane Grey” the reader will
be shocked and thrilled by the similarities between the story of “Jane Eyre” to Matthew Brontë and Jane Grey. Matthew is the cousin of the author of “Jane Eyre” books.

A story of a frustrated painter, and a “kept” man and a beleaguered English governess who comes to France as a teacher, to a young heiress, thus meets Matthew, in much the same manner as Jane Eyre met her Mr. Rochester, except Jane ran away from and her feelings for Matthew until she just couldn’t possibly run anymore.

Readers will also find a slight departure from Nina Mason’s other stories. Masterfully written, I felt, anyway.
This is a story of disappointment, fortitude, unwavering love, hardship, the difficulties of a painter, in the 1850’s, and the romance of the century.
Can wealth come before love? If you had a choice between weath or love, which would you choose love or the money? A delimma for most, especially when you meet the love of your life.
“The only happiness in life is to love and be loved.”, my favorite passage.

“Jane Grey” has many avenues for which to take the reader on, here’s just a few, forfeiting a fortune but never marry, never marry unless the spouse can provide for the other’s dependent family, or throw all away for marriage, love and finding a HEA.

I found “Jane Grey” to be endearing and romantic with a bit of a sad side. I enjoyed watching Matthew and Jane find their joy and contentment. Don’t be mistaken, in “Jane Grey”, while the story has similarities, this story takes a few twists, turns, with a few surprises along the way, lingering doubts and and a round about detour to happiness.

Ms. Mason is a talented author and once again, her talent shines through with the telling of “Jane Grey”. She never disappoints her readers in her plots, her characterizations, or her details. I’m truly excited for this new adventure. I hope readers will enjoy reading “Jane Grey”, it truly makes you wish to read “Jane Eyre” after all these years. Yes, I haven’t read it since high school! This story is definitely a departure from her other stories. The passion is not explicit nor over done, if that makes sense. I throughly enjoyed “Jane Grey” and I think you will as well.

Fans of the “Brontë Classics” will surely enjoy “Jane Grey”, with unusual circumstances, contentment and finally finding true love, what’s not to enjoy. This is an incredible story by Nina Mason! I can’t wait to read the next installment in what promises to be an amazing series.
Bravo, Ms.Mason!! Well done, indeed!

Never Trust a Pirate is part of the Regency-set Playful Brides series by Valerie Bowman

MY THOUGHTS:

Never trust a Pirate by Valerie Bowman is another exciting Regency Historical Romance in her “Playful Brides” series. While #7, it can be read as a stand alone. It does have re-appearing characters from previous books. This does not distract nor interfere in enjoying “Never Trust a Pirate”. Refreshing and intriguing story!

This is the story of Cade Cavendish and Miss Danielle LaCrosse. Cade is the “black sheep of the Cavendish family, with secrets. He is the twin brother to Rafe from a previous story. Danielle, is Rafe’s wife Daphne’s, lady’s maid. Ah, there is so much more to her than meets the eye. Is Cade the so called pirate “Black Fox”, a famous spy for the Crown? Afterall, he’s very good at deception, seduction, secretive and is very rebellious. Let’s not forget he’s devilishly handsome, with a devil may care care attitude. But lay all aside, he’s out for revenge, on the man who hurt his brother, Rafe. Ah, he’s also a spy. Danielle, is more than a French maid, she’s beautiful, sensual, and drives Cade mad with desire. It’s hard to decide which side she’s on at first, or rather who’s she working for, the Crown or the bad people. As she seems to be spying on Cade.
“Never Trust a Pirate” is not your everyday spy adventure. There are many twists and turns, surprises, witty banter, danger and adventure.
Let’s forget not, who is the “Black Fox”, I was totally shocked and surprised by who it was. Brilliant!!
I enjoyed the way Ms. Bowman mixed the spying with the interaction between the characters, and the true intend of the story. I enjoyed the witty banter between Cade and Danielle, their interaction was brilliantly written. They didn’t forget their responsibilities, for their own desires nor do they forget what their goals are, but intend to carry them through to the finish. They completed their mission, although, Cade and Danielle faced the ruthless French spy. Will one of them lose they life?

Brilliantly executed, with an easy to follow plot, that flowed smoothly and continously throughout the story. The characters were enduring, engaging and easily capture your heart. I personally was glued to this story from the first page forward. A very captivating, intriguing and suspensive story. Unique in many ways, not just a predictable spy story. The suspense and mystery with the romantic interest was enough to keep the reader intrigued throughout “Never Trust a Pirate”. A great read for fans of mystery, suspense, intruigue, romance, spies, and an overall splendid read. Very well done, Valerie Bowman !!! I can’t wait to read the next “Playful Brides” story.

MY THOUGHTS:

Always, Ransom by Reina Torres is Book 1 in the new and what promises to be exciting “Three Rivers Express” series, set in Three Rivers, Wyoming in the Spring of 1860. A Sweet Western Historical Romance!

*”The Three Rivers Express Series is a set of Sweet Western Historical Romance which will be written alternately by Reina Torres and Nan O’Berry. Starting with the Spring of 1860 when the Pony Express began their service of mail delivery between St. Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California, each of the Three Rivers Express books will take on a new season and a different rider.”*

With this said, get ready to ride the trails, with the pony express rider, with heartwarming heroines and some most intrepid heroes!! Feel the danger, the breeze on your face, hear the horse hooves, as they ride by fast and hard to get to the next relay station with the mail delivery and escape the danger that nay await around the next bend. Very exciting read! !

“Always, Ransom”, features Ransom McCain, and Delia Burroughs, her father owns the Burroughs station. She is spirited, courageous, brave and beautiful. She is strong enough and determined enough to help her family survive in the West. But one by one her brothers leave to go eleswhere, and persue their own lives and dreams, leaving only Delia and her father to attend to the relay station and keep it running. Her father’s struggles and grief, is made worse by all his crew having been run off. This will make it near impossible for Delia to leave and make a family of her own. She must stay and help her father, succeed.
Ransom, is the last man hired to ride for the Three Rivers station, since all the others either were killed or scared off. Ransom was chosen to be the first man to ride west because he could think fast on his feet, and had an adventureous spirit, he’s also alone in the world. Tensions are running high, some does not wish for the Express to make it through, they wish it to fail, for their own selfish reasons.

Steady paced, well written with well rounded and engaging characters. I love reading about the early days of the Pony Express rider and the relay stations. The plot was fasticating and intriguing.
From the first page I could not put this amazing story down, it was a spellbinding and quick read, only approximately 177 pages, packed full of a sweet romance, danger, some intrigue, and suspense. I read “Always, Ransom” in one setting.

This sweet, heartwarming story will keep you turning pages as Ransom and Delia figure out the attraction between them and if they are willing to risk what they’ve found, as the danger that surrounds them tries to pull them apart. Will they risk theit possible HEA and their love? Will their love be strong enough to prevent the nefarious things that are happening from destroying what they’ve found and the life they both wish?

There are NO cliffhanger, per se, this is a continuous story, however. Book 2 is to be released soon, “Summer 1860 – “Always, Clay” by: Nan O’Berry”. I can’t wait to see what is next for the “Three Rivers Express” riders and the relay station.

Think of the T.V. shows, “Larmine”, or “Young Riders”, yes, telling you my age. These shows are probably before most of your time, but I still watch them today, re-runs, of course.

*Note: this is a sweet romance, it does have a few curses words, nothing we all don’t hear often, such as “d**mn, he*l etc, they are not vulgar words. There is NO sensual interaction, only kissing.*

A most enjoyable and very satisfying read. Bravo, Reina Torres!! A definite must read for fans of Sweet Romance, Western Historical, Pony Express early days and the brave riders. Powerful and compelling read, “Always, Ransom”!!

MY THOUGHTS:

Echo in the Wind by Regan Walker is an outstanding Georgian Historical Romance. “Donet Trilogy”, Book 2, but can be read as a stand alone. Set in England and France in 1784. The story begins in West Sussex, England.

This is the heartwarming story of Jean Donet, comte de Saintonge and Lady Joanna West.
Donet, was disowned from his family in France by his father, because his father did not like the woman his son wished to marry, so, Jean, made his own way and fortune by smuggling and others things to feed his young family. Donet gave up all for the love of a woman. Then his beloved wife dies, leaving him with a young daughter. Donet is bold, handsome, dark and a privateer, he’s the Captain of the la Reine Noire.
Joanna, is the oldest sister of Lord Torrington. She’s a smuggler with her younger brother, Freddy. They are smugglers to help the poor villagers of Chichester. Joanna is looking for adventure.

Love of a lifetime, second chances in love and life, adventure, danger, a bit of mystery, suspense, romance and a few surprises makes “Echo in the Wind” a page turner.

The mysterious and handsome Jean Donet and the elegant but advanteous Joanne make an excellent match. I absolutely loved their story!!

Well written with Ms. Walker’s usual aplomb, her historical details, her characterizations, and her vivid details, draw the reader into her stories and held them in awe. Her details of the countryside, makes the reader feel as if they are there, as if you can breath in the fragrant scents and feel the wind on your face. Simply breathtaking! ! I felt as if I was there, along with the characters. It was easy to feel Donet’s heartache and his reluctance to love again. My heart broke for both him and Joanna.

A fast paced drama, with passion and romance. The plot was magnificent, engaging and intriguing, as Ms. Walker’s stories usually are. The characters are strong-willed, bold, well rounded, very believable and realistic.

Once again, Regan Walker brings readers a story of adventure, and romance, that will keep readers fully engaged. I was glued to the pages from the first sentence forward. Magnificent! ! Another masterfully and brilliantly executed story!! Bravo!! Ms. Walker definitely knows how to write Historical Romance. I love her stories and “Echo in the Wind”, was no different. A absolutely wicked but delicious story. Another must read by Regan Walker. Beautiful and heartwarming story!!!

Product Description

Vikki Vaught’s newest series, Lake District Brides, begins with Miss Lizabella’s Dilemma, a historical novel of a woman’s despair in the aftermath of war. This Regency romance brings you endearing characters to love, and a moving love story of deep sensuality.

Lizabella Millington’s intended goes missing after the Battle of Waterloo. She’s afraid he may have perished on that fateful day. Her fear turns to panic when she realizes she carries his child. Her uncle discovers her shame and tosses her out, leaving her with no alternative but to seek shelter from her beloved’s eldest brother.

Marcus, Viscount Loring, grieves for his brother, who loses his life to injuries received in battle. The last thing he expects is a grieving young woman arriving on his doorstep and claiming his brother’s the father of her unborn child.

Should he believe her tragic tale and offer her succor or turn her away?

MY THOUGHTS:

Miss Millington’s Dilemma by Vikki Vaught is an amazing Regency Romance.
Ms. Vaught manages to pull the reader into this incredibly beautiful and heartwarming story.

The characters were realistic and believable. The heroine was a bit naive at first, but she matures quickly, having a child tends to do that to a person. The heroine had a reason to be scared, feel alone and unwanted, in her desperate time of need, her family, per say, kicked her out with nothing but the clothes on her back. So off she goes to find her beloved at his brother’s house, to ask for help. I could see and feel a true gentleman doing as our hero did and accept his deceased brother’s child and help the mother, even to marrying her to make the child legitimate. I loved how they fall in love with each other and became a family. Melted my poor heart. Both our heroine and hero were motivated to do the right thing for all involved. I loved how the hero took responsibility of his brother’s child and claimed it as his own.

There is much to appeal to Regency fans, such as, conflict, a bit of danger, drama, love and finding a HEA for all concerned. The sensual tension was palpable, and exceuted well by Ms. Vaught, in my humble opinion.

Such an enjoyable and very satisfying read!
A great read that will hold the reader’s attention from the first page to the last. An absolute delight to read! Strongly recommended! !

My Thoughts:

LuAnn and the Latin Lover by Hebby Roman is a great Contemporary Romance set yes, in an RV Park on South Padre Island, Texas. It’s the third and possibly final book in “Snowbirds” Series. It features an “older” or more “mature” couple. Some call them “season romances”, personally I enjoy older or more mature couples. I relate more to these type characters.

This is the story of LuAnn Sparks and Joaquin Sandoval, once childhood friends. Joaquin’s parents worked for LuAnn’s wealthy family. But tragedy strikes both LuAnn and Joaquin, leaving them adrift. So they move to Padre Island, where they meet again. Joaquin is a Harley-riding rebel, and a bad boy, who becomes a millionaire overnight, due to his invention. He’s seeking to gain custody of his eight-year old daughter, after his wife’s tragic death. LuAnn lived the life of a privileged society matron, until her husband unexpectedly dies, leaving her penniless so she moves to an RV Park on Padre Island, guess who her neighbor is, yes, her old childhood friend, sexy, Joaquin.

Ms. Roman did an exceptional job with these mature, exciting characters. They were easy to relate to, beliveable, realistic and lovable. The plot moved smoothly and did not lag. The plot also pertained to everyday life, love, tragedy, second chances and the maturity of dealing with unexpected issues.
Can love find it’s way into the lives of an up-tight socialite and a tattooed-biker? Or will they give up their second chance at love? They are just like day and night, but they do get alone very well in the bedroom.

A well written story with some twists and turns. The spice level was great, to me. I have to admit, I was unexpectedly happy with Joaquin and LuAnn’s story. I intend to go back and read the other two in this series. “LuAnn and the Latin Lover” shows readers that a subgenre, just as “season romances”, can and does appeal to older readers, such as myself. It was a surprise to me, and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading.
While, this was my first time reading the “Snowbird” series, I had no trouble following the characters nor the plot.

Contemporary romance fans, will enjoy reading a story with mature/older characters and the amazing plot, I believe. Don’t let the title fool you, it’s about more than sensuality, it’s about filling a gap between lost, grief and finding love and a HEA.
I was unexpectedly pleased with Joaquin and LuAnn’s story. I hope you will give “LuAnn and the Latin Lover” a chance, I think you will enjoy reading about these mature, older characters, as much as I did.

MY THOUGHTS:

A Most Unlikely Duke by Sophie Barnes
is an interesting and stimulating Regency Romance. Book 1 in a new and what promises to be an incredible series, “Diamonds in the Rough”. Fast paced, exciting with engaging characters and an intriguing plot. Our hero, Raphe, is certainly a diamond in the rough, but an exciting one, to be sure.

Raphe Matthews, a bare-knuckle boxer who, was born into the gentry, but due to a tragedy, he and his family are left impoverished and in debt. Raphe, at age of eight, started taking care of himself and his three siblings, working on the docks and prize fighting. Lady Gabriella, Ralpe’s new neighbor, has been brow beaten by her parents, since her sister’s scandalous match, she knows the ton’s eyes are on her to find a proper match. However, she agrees to tutor the new duke, a brutish hunk of a Duke, at that, but it can only lead to her ruin, but she agrees anyway. Raphe, is an honorable man, who honors his commitments, even if it would bring scandal to them all.

Together, Raphe and Gabriella, fight their attraction to each other, as well as
the scandal that is brewing. This story is heartwarming, as well as, intriguing, entertaining and proves, you can overcome the circumstances you are born into, by no fault of your own.
I was drawn into this story from the first page until the last, and can not wait to see what the next book in what promises, to be a most incredible series, will be about.

Ms. Barnes, is an amazing and talented author, who draws the reader into her stories with her characterizations, her details to Regency history, and her dramatization of the situations her characters find themselves in. “A Most Unlikely Duke”, is powerful, compelling and an excellent choice for any fan of historical fiction, romance, drama with stunning characters and a most unlikely plot. Masterfully written. A really great read, in my opinion!

My Thoughts:

Claimed by the Bounty Hunter by Emma Prince is an amazing addition to the “Highland Bodyguards” series. While book 4, it can be read as a stand alone. I would strongly recommend adding this series to your reading experience. It is an outstanding series, to me

Well written, fast paced, action packed, with inner turmoil, heart-pounding fight scenes, and a trek across Scotland, makes for a fabulous Scottish Historical Romance. The romance is a definite plus, as well as, the struggle to find one’s inner self, again, adds much emotional baggage, as Kirk MacLeod fights to regain his faith in Robert the Bruce’s fight to free Scotland. He lost his faith, due to a gruesome seige in Ireland, while in service to Robert the Bruce’s, brother, Edward. By doing this one last deed for the cause, Robert the Bruce, agrees to release Kirk from his service to him and the cause, which, is a dangerous assignment, going undercover within, the ruthless Order, a group of cold-blooded mercenaries, bounty hunters for hire, to find and destroy the head of this ruthless organization, which has been one step ahead if them at every turn. Will Kirk lose himself and become part of this ruthless Order, or can he save himself and Lillian?

Kirk’s target, Lillian Fitzhugh, a widow, whose late husband, supposely leaves her with a powerful secret—one that these men are willing to capture, torture and kill to get the information. Which, is what they did to Lillian’s husband. Now, Lillian has been captured by this ruthless Highland bounty hunter, but she senses there is more to Kirk then his exterior persona.
Kirk is caught between his duty to King and country, his assignment for the Order, and his feelings for so the brave, and mild mattered, Lillian, who brings a sense of peace to Kirk. Will Kirk and Lillian survive their trek across Scotland to found the own victories? Or lose all to duty? You must read this incredible Scottish Romance to find out the answers. This story has so much to offer readers, it leaves the reader breathless and absolutely enthralled, as they follow Kirk and Lillian’s story. The reader is also introduced to a new character, Eric, I so wish to learn more of him and his beloved sister. Ah, yet another story in the intriguing “Highland Bodyguards” series!

Fans of Scottish intrigue, heart-pounding action, historical intrigue, lasses with true strength, and bravery, and a Scottish warrior with much inner turmoil, are sure to enjoy Kirk and Lilluan’s story. There is so much to recommend, “Claimed by the Bounty Hunter”, to readers, I was glued to the pages from the first page forward.

Powerful, and compelling, with twists and turns and a few surprises and a treasure of a romance. I believe this is my favorite in this mesmerizing series. Simply awe inspiring and breathtaking as Kirk and Lillian make their way across Scotland, to find their HEA.

A definite must read! Ms Prince is a talented author and one of my favorite Scottish romance authors. I would like to thank, Ms. Prince for an excellent job of bringing readers a heart-pounding reading experience, once again!!! Bravo, Emma Prince! !
