Book Description (from amazon)

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author DIANA PALMER is back with a thrilling new story featuring the Kirk brothers of Wyoming

Former border agent Dalton Kirk thought his life was over—literally—when a gang of smugglers left him for dead. Defying all odds, he survives his ordeal and returns to his Wyoming ranch ready to dedicate his future to a more peaceful home on the range. Until lovely Merissa Baker knocks on his door.

Merissa is well aware of her reputation as the local eccentric—she knows things before they happen—and she’s had a vision that Dalton is in danger. Even though her beliefs clash with Dalton’s cowboy logic, she’s determined to save the handsome rancher she’s secretly loved forever.

Visions? It’s all ridiculous to Dalton…until things start happening that prove Merissa right. And now Dalton is not the only target—so is Merissa. Can Dalton be bold enough to trust the unknown? Is this Wyoming man ready to love?

My Thoughts

This is the third book in the Wyoming series.  This book can be read as a stand alone book, as the books are not dependent on each other. The Wyoming series is about the 3 Kirk brothers and how they find love.  The third book, Wyoming Bold, is the story of the youngest Kirk brother, Dalton or as he is known by his family Tank.

I loved, loved, loved the first two books in this series – they each have had very different story lines but both had hooks that kept you interested the entire read.  This book was no different.  The story line, characters and the added suspense will have you devouring this book in record time.  If you enjoy characters who are a little different you will enjoy the meek and mild character of Merissa.  Her innocence is refreshing.  Tank’s caring, protective attitude will make those of us who enjoy a strong hero swoon.  There is a balance between romance and suspense throughout the entire book.  Tank and Merissa’s developing love is beautifully intertwined with elements of suspense and mystery – you will be on your toes from beginning to end.  I dare you to read and not catch the “who done it” syndrome.  I also enjoyed how characters from Palmer’s other books made special guest appearances.  It added to the charm factor and added another layer in her on-going saga. There are some scenes that maybe intense for some readers – mystery, murder, attempted murder – are all themes you will encounter throughout the book.

Charming, heartwarming, mysterious, suspenseful – this book has it all. You will not be disappointed with one single page, I promise.

Book Description (from amazon):

The Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel have a rebel among them, and there’s only one woman who can put his flames out.

Firefighter Patrick “Psycho” Callahan earns his nickname every day. Fast, fit, and a furious worker, he thrives on the danger which helps him forget a near-tragedy that changed his life forever. But when his off-duty carousing gets out of hand, Patrick is sent back to Loveless, Nevada, where the wildfire threatening his hometown has nothing on sizzling Dr. Lara Nelson.

Lara would rather be thought of as the physician who returned to Loveless than as the misfit brought up at a hippie New Age commune. But right now she’s focused on the job at hand, patching up injured firemen . . . until the past hits her in the hard-muscled, blue-eyed form of Patrick Callahan. Now, the embers of their decade-old attraction have ignited into a full-on inferno, as the bad-boy firefighter and the good doctor take a walk on the wild side they’ll never forget.

Your Thoughts

Perfectly funny, charming and steamy!  I had the best time reading this book and I did not want to put it down.  I seriously contemplated a sick day just so I could finish it (well, maybe not seriously but it did run through my mind, ha).  When you open the pages of this book it is like you fall into the lives of Patrick and Lara.  You are not just an observer you feel as if you are there with them throughout the book.

Patrick or Psycho is the perfect male – he is hot, sensitive, bad-@$$, sexy and vulnerable.  He is just a great character and the details describing his tattoos will certainly tip you over the edge (well, I guess if you like that sort of thing).  Lara is sweet, kind, smart, and like most of us running from something in our past.  It is interesting to watch the dynamic relationship between Patrick and Lara and Lara and Liam, Patrick’s brother.  I also appreciate the representation of a person with a disability as “normal” – whatever that is.  I wish there had been more resolution between Patrick, Liam and the rest of their family – maybe that will be forthcoming in another book in the series.  These are just the type of characters you could read about on and on and on and never tire of them.

This book is part of Jennifer Bernard’s Bachelor Firemen series, but it certainly can be read independently.  I have never read any of the other books in this series (something I hope to rectify very, very soon) and was able to pick up with the story.  From what I have gathered from others who have read the series, the other books introduce different characters but each book has its own independent storyline.  The characters are reoccurring in the books which adds to the continuity of the series.

If you are into books that are hot, steamy and about coming home for second chances this is definitely worth your time!

Book Description (from amazon):

Ellis Garrett is dumping her critical boyfriend, opening a plus-size clothing store, and starting a blog—all to spread the word that fashion shouldn’t require a size-two body, and happiness should allow for the occasional cupcake. Or two. But is indulging fantasies about her sister’s long-ago ex, the still-hunky Michael Edwards, biting off more than she can chew?

Mike must be losing his detective’s touch. He doesn’t recognize Ellis when he bumps into her at Size Me Up, and he certainly doesn’t remember his ex-girlfriend’s outspoken sister being so irresistible. Her curves are indeed dangerous—and so is her wit. Could it be that Ellis is his Perfect Fit? One thing’s for sure: Mike will make it his sworn duty to find out…

Your Thoughts

This is the first book in the Perfect Fit Novel, and I must say I can’t wait for more. This book is awesomely hilarious and unique!  The attraction, camaraderie, and “sassiness” of the dialogue and basic interaction between Ellis and Mike is super sexy and super funny – it is truly what makes the whole story come alive.  The quirkiness of Ellis’ parents is unique as well and just adds to the “differentness” of the book.  This is certainly not your usual run-of-the-mill romance novel – it is so much more!

I so enjoyed the character of Ellis (even her name is distinctive).  She was so easy to relate an so not your typical romance heroine.  The friendship between her and the people who work in her story was carefully thought out and written in a way to provide Ellis support, voice of reason, but yet a push for her to go out and grab her dreams.  Her family interactions were quirky at best ( love, love, love her father’s character), but added more realness and just a since of family and love.  Mike was an interesting character you will love by the end.  His family appeared at just the right time (hahaha) and added an additional emotional element to the already dimensional and  beautifully written story. The character of Jack (aka Jack-ass, haha) is a perfect adversary along with his Aunt – they not only added another layer of funny but also within their interactions Mike’s protectiveness emerges and will make you love him that much more.

This book was well thought out and planned – all the twists and turns twist and turn at just the right moment, and they make sense and work to create a wonderfully unique story.  It is a true must read for those who are looking for or who adore  snarky-sassiness from a not so conventional character.

I cannot wait for the second book in the series – if it is anything like this one it will be simply fabulous!

Book Description (from amazon)

Darby Quinn has a bone to pick with Cinderella. Burned one too many times by ex-boyfriends, Darby has lost all belief in the happily-ever-after that the fairy-tale princess promised her. She’s sworn off love, Prince Charmings, and happy endings and she’s happy about it. Really. Or at least she was…until she met Jake, her gorgeous neighbor and the manager of her favorite restaurant. But Darby has rules about dating, ones she’s culled from her years spent with so-called “princes,” and starting something with Jake would break all of them.

Charming, fun, and unwilling to give up on her, Jake doesn’t fit any of the profiles Darby has created from her case studies of ex-princes-gone-bad. Finally presented with her own Prince Charming, can Darby take a chance on a happily-ever-after?

Full of wit and sarcastic humor, Cinderella Screwed Me Over proves that sometimes the perfect love, like a perfect pair of shoes, is just within your grasp.

 Your Thoughts

I was so excited about this book because I thought the concept was neat, fresh and unusual. Unfortunately, I just didn’t enjoy the book the way I hoped I would.  The beginning of the book started out fine – it was a little catchy and I was able to connect with the character of Darby.  Then as the story went on – it literally when on and on and on and on.  While the concept of relating fairy tales to real life love sounded neat and fresh in reality it was wordy and seemed to drag on and on.  I skipped probably 25-35% of the book just because I felt stuck.  It was as if I kept reading and reading and the little line on the bottom of my Kindle just was not moving – seriously, I thought it had stopped working at one point.

Honestly, I enjoyed Darby’s cynical view of love, but it just got to be too much.  If you enjoy reading books about love gone wrong with a happy ending this book is definitely for you.   I found Darby’s character likeable, but she would be someone I could only take in small doses too pessimistic for my taste.  I enjoyed the secondary characters of Darby’s step brothers, and thought they added a sense of overall balance and calm to Darby’s hectic life.  Jake, Darby’s love interest, is patient and kind – almost too patient and kind. I started to wonder what kind of skeleton’s the writer had in store for him, but he turned out to be truly smitten.  Toward the end of the book, I must admit, the emotional side of the story had me hooked – unfortunately, by this time, I was so bored and just wanted to be finished with the book – it didn’t really matter.  I’d say overall, it was an OK read. It was just too wordy and cynical for my liking, but if you are into love and/or male bashing give it a try.

 Your Thoughts

Ok, so this is not my usual read, but I am trying to broaden my horizons.   While it is typically not the kind of book I would usually read I liked it.  It is a short read – which was a drawing card for me.  I actually enjoyed the short quick chapters. It was sorta like a mind game for me thinking I was reading the book quickly – which was nice considering I have been consistently reading 300+ page books recently.  The book, story and length were all just refreshing and different.

I liked the character of Aiden and thought he and Belinda were great for each other. I liked Belinda, but after the twist at the end I just didn’t like her.  I found her just flat out dishonest.  However, I think it was because I just thought Aiden’s character was so sweet!  The hospital scenes were ok, but I really didn’t like to insinuation of prostitution by a nursing student – that for me was just too much.  My favorite parts of the book were from the middle to the end.  Those chapters flowed quickly and fluently for me.  After completing the book I understood and appreciated the strong symbolism in the book.  If you are looking for a quick, quirky read this is your ticket!

Luke’s not sure if he can forgive her, but he definitely can’t forget her, and when she returns to save the Cupcake Lovers from disaster, he knows it’s his chance to get the truth—and get the girl, this time for good…

Anything But Love is the third Cupcake Lovers novel from Beth Ciotta

Your Thoughts

Although this book is part of the Cupcake Lovers’ series it can certainly be read alone, as I have never read any of the other Cupcake books and was able to fall right into the story.  You may have more insight if you read the other books, but the writer does a good job of getting you to speed quick fast and in a hurry.

I think the overall story line was neat and a little different.  The characters were realistic and fun.  Luke is a hoot!  He is a classic fun loving party boy and his evolution into his mature self is fun and interesting.  Throughout the book there is just a strong sense of love, family and belonging within the community. The whole concept was just heart-warming.

I also liked the added bonus romance of Sam and his quirky lady. Which was just as captivating as the love story of Luke and Rae.  The book is just fun, heart-warming, and charming.  The only thing I really did not like was the ending.  It just ended.  I wish there had been just one more chapter, but then  like cupcakes one more just may not be enough, ha.

Book Description (from amazon):

Transforming their parents’ rundown ranch in the small town of Catcher Creek, New Mexico, into a tourist destination is the toughest challenge the three Sorentino sisters ever faced. But now one of them has another fight on her hands – to keep from falling for the sexy town sheriff – again…

Rachel Sorentino has spent her whole life protecting her siblings from trouble – only to run headlong into it herself. Her first regret about shooting at the vandals targeting her family ranch is that her aim wasn’t better. Her second is that when bullets started flying, it was Sheriff Vaughn Cooper’s number she dialed. Vaughn is the mistake she keeps on making, a cowboy lawman who cuts through Rachel’s surface bravado to the vulnerability no one else sees. And no matter how inconvenient their attraction – for his career, her tangled case, and his already battered heart – there’s no denying what feels so irresistibly right…

Books in the Catcher Creek cowboy series:

The Trouble with Cowboys – book 1 – October 2012 (Kellan and Amy)

Cowboy Justice – book 2 – October 2013 (Vaughn and Rachel)

How to Rope a Real Man – book 3 – May 2014 (Jenna and Matt)

Your Thoughts

This is the second book of the Catcher Creek series.  It could be read as a stand-alone book, but if you have the information from the first book it may make the read more “real”.  More than that the series is just fabulous – you would not want to miss the first book!!

This is seriously one of the best books I have ever read – I could not put it down, but yet I tried to read it slower because I wanted it to last longer.  This is definitely a book to sit back, enjoy and savor every word….yes, it is just that good.    When you read the first paragraph you will be transported to Catcher Creek, and I can promise you will never want to leave.  You will be reintroduced to characters from the first book in the series as well as the story between Vaughn and Rachel.

The main characters of Rachel and Vaughn are both written in a way that they are real, easy to relate to, and just simply people you would want to know and be friends with. Vaughn is a strong character who is tough, smart, funny but yet intensely vulnerable.  He is a dimensional character whose vulnerability stretches far beyond just his love interest, Rachel. I enjoyed learning Vaughn’s personality and the way his snarky “Sheriff” persona was balanced by the helpless he felt regarding his family and most of all Rachel.  One of the refreshing things about this story, in my opinion, is that Vaughn and Rachel are equals.  Rachel is not weak, quirky, or timid – she does not need Vaughn or any man, for that matter, to rescue her from herself.   Rachel has the same qualities as Vaughn she is strong, tough, smart, funny but yet also intensely vulnerable.   The opening of the book will most definitely clue you into the type of character Rachel is – it will not take long for you to fall in love with her and the principals she tries so hard to up hold.

The relationship Vaughn and Rachel share is twisted, extreme and just plain complicated.  The complications will definitely pull on your heart strings throughout the story, but certainly make the ending that much sweeter.  A common theme between the two books in the series is the mutual attraction between the main characters.  The attraction is intense, raw, and over-whelming.  It is a very interesting story with lots of twist and turns.  This book is also full of surprises, and they are like “wow, I didn’t see that coming” surprises.  I’m telling you there is not one dull moment in this book – it is a definite no skipping or dozing off zone.  If you are looking for a steaming hot romance with a hot dose of suspense, a heaping teaspoonful of surprises, and dash of “damn, that just ain’t fair” then this is definitely your read.  I never reread books, but if I have the urge this one is 100% at the top of my reread list!  It is hands down as close to perfect as they come – I  CANNOT wait for book 3 of the Catcher Creek Series.

Book Description (from amazon)

There’s nowhere better to spend the holidays than with New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery in the town of Fool’s Gold, where love is always waiting to be unwrapped…

Noelle Perkins just got a second chance at life, and she intends to make the most of every minute. That’s why she ditched a frustrating legal career to open her own store in Fool’s Gold, California. The Christmas Attic celebrates everything that’s magical about her favorite season. Business is booming, and as a bonus, gorgeous army doctor Gabriel Boylan has offered to help out during the holiday rush.

Gabriel’s memories of Christmas past contain more sour grapes than sugar plums, thanks to a drill sergeant father who ran his home like a boot camp. Spending the holidays with his family while he recuperates from injury sounds as appetizing as last year’s eggnog. Still, there are some enjoyable distractions in town, including sunny, sexy Noelle…and the red-hot mistletoe kisses they can’t stop sharing.

Gabriel didn’t think he was made for happily-ever-afters. But when fate hands you a love as sweet and surprising as this, only a fool could refuse….

Your Thoughts

Christmas on 4th Street is a delightfully charming read.  Set in the wonderful Fool’s Gold this story is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit, and make you want to run out a buy a set of Nativity Gourds! In this book you will read the story of Noelle and Gabriel.  Noelle is for all you tough sensitive girls out there who still believe in love.  Alone she has had to fight for her life and now she has decided to grab life by the tail and hold on tight.  She is determined to win Gabriel’s love and love him as she lives – with her whole heart.

Gabriel on the other hand is more reserved and is still trying to find his way.  He is sweet and sensitive and has been made to feel ashamed of those character traits.  His vulnerability makes him a beautiful character that you root for until the end. You will meet Gabriel’s family, which include his twin brother Gideon, which fans of the series will remember from Two of a Kind, and his parents Norman and Karen Boyland.  The elder Boyland’s add such a strong dimension and depth to understanding Gabriel and his personality.  You will love all the characters of his family. You will find each of them, or at least characteristics of each in someone in your life.

I enjoyed the story of Gabriel finding his own way as much as I did the actual love story between him and Noelle.  That is one of the things I love most about the entire Fool’s Gold series — you not only get a beautiful love story you also get real characters.  Real characters who each bring a simple complexity to the stories and who are not forgotten in the other books of the series.  I also enjoyed, as well as, appreciated the symbolism between the main character’s names and the season at which the book is written.  I enjoyed the simple, friendly, laid back interactions of the town’s people as well as the other beloved characters from earlier books in the series.  I loved everything about this book from beginning to end it was a sweet, heart-warming book of love and second chances.
