The men in Texas are hard to resist . . .
Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert at delivering the perfect wedding—even if she might not exactly believe in the whole “’til death do us part” thing. When her father decides to tie the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn’t expect to find at the local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as he is on blowing her “true love doesn’t exist” theory all to hell.
And they always promise . . .
Veterinarian, former Marine, and Sweet’s favorite playboy Jesse Wilder takes one look at Allison and knows she’s a handful of trouble he can’t deny. But even after a sizzling kiss and obvious mutual attraction, it seems Allison has no such problem. When Jesse uncovers her sweet side, can he crush his playboy image, melt her cynical heart, and change her mind about taking a trip down the aisle?
Allison Lane can’t believe that her dad has ended up in the middle of nowhere and is now planning to marry a woman he barely knows. So she does the only thing a good responsible daughter would do, she heads down to Sweet, Texas to get to know the woman herself. But when she walks into the local bar, she lays eyes on one sexy cowboy. Unfortunately, getting into bed with the locals is not the reason she’s there. Jesse Wilder knows that the sexy, guarded lady he finds himself dancing with is not from Sweet. He also recognizes that she’s got commitment and trust issues but since she’s not sticking around, he’s not getting involved. That is until the sexy girl from the bar shows up at his family home with his future step-dad. As Allison and Jesse are forced to spend a little time together, they realize they are quite attracted to one another, but just as soon as she meets and assesses Jana Wilder, Jesse’s mom, she’s headed out of town. When a crisis threatens to put the breaks on Reno and Charli’s wedding, Allison finds herself offering to stick around and help work out the kinks, after all, event planning is what she does. But staying in town means that she’ll have to spend time with Jesse. And Jesse is determined to convince Allison that true love does exist and help break down her carefully erected walls. As Jesse pulls out all the stops to show Allison what true love is all about, can Allison guard her heart from Jesse or will she helplessly fall in love?
The latest novel in Candis Terry’s Sweet, Texas series, Something Sweeter, is sure to leave you with a smile on your face and love in your heart! Jesse and Allison’s story is nothing short of heart-warming! I loved the way that Jesse’s playboy reputation both helps and hurts his relationship with Allison and finally watching him fall head over heels in love was everything I expected it to be! With Allison’s past experiences with love and growing up with a narcissistic mother, she guards heart, yet still manages to let Jesse in. I loved that she was eventually willing to take that chance and find what she’d always wanted. Revisiting the characters from the previous novels in the series was very enjoyable. I enjoyed catching up with Charlie and Reno, Abby and Jackson and of course, the meddling Jana! I am looking forward to the next book in this series! This is a series that I will be reading again and again.
