Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she’s been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don’t speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future.
Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father’s plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he’s been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal.
But Devlin’s love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever…or lost.
Another fantastic Laura Kaye novel! This is the conclusion to the Anemoi Wind novels, and brings together the entire cast of characters for a final showdown between Devlin’s evil and destructive father Eurus, god of the East Wind, and the rest of the Anemoi deities. Having recently been the subject of a divine experiment meant to gift him with the power to defeat his father, Devlin Eston is literally a breath away from creating a super-cell storm capable of wiping out an entire portion of the east coast. So far unable to control his temper and the resultant power, he struggles to find something that gives him enough peace to calm the raging turbulent inside him.
That something turns out to be Annalise Fallston. Petite, but fiery, she holds the key to his composure. Mostly colorblind since birth, she seeks solace in the one thing that allows her to see the beauty of the world. Her painting. For some reason, she can see color only when allowing her mind to delve into her art, and can actually manipulate the depth and light in her masterpieces, simply through thought and touch. She’s also been having disturbing visions of The Dark Man that make Devlin think she may be more than meets the eye.
Brought together by fate, kept together by circumstance.; they are fundamental to each other’s happiness and future. This story was so fantastical and so full of imagery and natural beauty, that I was absorbed into it. Although, this is the only Anemoi novel I have read, I went straight through it in one sitting and almost ordered the first 3 as soon as I finished, just to stay with these characters a bit longer. Definitely a must read series if you like fantasy/paranormal authors. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to search out more of her books!
