Book Description (from amazon)
Penance is the conclusion of Michelle and Wyatt’s tale of hope,
loss, and healing, but most of all forgiveness and the meaning of
When Wyatt and Michelle leave for Chicago to attend the wedding of an old friend of Michelle’s, aWyatt has no idea how close his beloved Domina is to the edge. Michelle has been trying to ignore her own issues, focused on helping Wyatt with his PTSD, but the past refuses to stay buried and she soon finds herself spiraling out of control. More determined than ever to protect Wyatt from herself, Michelle tries to pretend everything is perfect with devastating results.
Wyatt can see that Michelle is losing it, but he doesn’t know how to help her when she refuses to admit there’s a problem. No longer able to deal with the pressure of pretending to be perfect, Michelle self-destructs. Wyatt is now faced with a bitter choice – leave the woman who owns his heart or start a long and arduous journey to rescue the other half of his soul from her own personal Hell.
***This is the second book in a two book series. It is HIGHLY recommended that you read ‘Still’ before you read ‘Penance’ as this is basically one giant book split into two.****
When Michelle and Wyatt return to Chicago, Michelle is forced to deal with some emotional baggage she’d simply rather not drudge back up. But returning to her mother’s home and having to deal with her and all of her cutting, spiteful remarks and the memory of all the times she and Owen used to go to the club has left Michelle vulnerable and at her breaking point. Wyatt can’t stand to see his Domina like this and decides he must do whatever it takes to bring her back from the dark recesses of her own mind, even if he must endure the training of becoming a Dom himself. But will Wyatt be able to save Michelle from herself while dealing with his own PTSD? He must succeed or risk losing the love of his life forever.
With exceptionally written characters and a simply delicious, melt in your hands kind of love story, this novel will have you begging for more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the conclusion of Michelle and Wyatt’s relationship, and seeing them both work through the horrors of PTSD. Reading as Wyatt stepped out of his comfort zone and become a Dom for Michelle was so special and so hot that I couldn’t put the book down! I read it all in one day! Michelle is quite a woman out of control and it takes all the love, honor and patience that Wyatt has to bring her back to sanity, but he loves her enough to go through hell to bring her back to him. If this is your type of book, then don’t miss this one. Ann Mayburn will have you on the edge of your seat, bringing you to the brink of your sanity, just as her characters are fighting to save theirs.
