Loving a gladiator is forbidden to someone of Marcella Calpurnia’s status. But whenCanusAteia, champion of the Campania region, is injured in the arena and in need of her healing skills, she is soon a captive of his charms and a slave to her own desires. She revels in his muscled embrace at each erotic liaison until her father uncovers the affair and demands an arranged marriage to a respectable man of his choosing—a soldier of Rome.Once her romance withCanus is threatened, Marcella schemes to keep him. Will her future husband be out-smarted or will the sexy Centurion make a maneuver of his own?
Marcella was surrounded by her father’s prized Gladiators. How can she not notice the bodies that were covered in only a loin cloth. Canus was the man she wanted. She chose to sneak around behind her father’s back to be with him in his bed. He was very skilled in and out of the arena. Marcella’s father felt these men were beneath him and his daughter and would not hear of her ruining the family reputation by laying with such a man.
Canus was her fantasy, but her father wanted her married to a noble man. What her father did not realize was her future husband had fantasies of his own and they may just include a handsome gladiator.
I am a fan of this book. It is a very seductive story and it reminded me of the show Sparticus. It is a short story that I was able to read in one sitting. I feel the beginning few pages were not my favorite, but once I got into the book I was very happy with the story line. A great read.
