Book Description (from amazon)
She’s Got Sass…
Emily Cooper promised her dying grandfather that she’d deliver a long-lost letter to a woman he once planned to wed. Little does adventurous Emily know that this simple task will propel her to places she never could have imagined…with a cowboy who’s straight out of her dreams…
He’s Got Mail…
When sexy rancher Greg Adams discovers his grandmother Clarice has installed Emily on their ranch as her assistant, he decides to humor the two ladies. He figures Emily will move on soon enough. In the meantime, he intends to keep a close eye on her—he doesn’t quite buy her story of his grandmother as a mail-order bride.
A lost letter meant a lost love for Clarice, but two generations later, maybe it’s not too late for that letter to work its magic.
What a fun, clever twist on a mail order bride. But I have come to expect nothing less from Carolyn Brown. This read is nothing short of perfection! Seriously, there are cowboys, horses, sweet old ladies, community, hard work (I swear at times you can smell the leather and sweat), love letters, family, a little magic (not devil but whimsical, ha), oh, and did I mention cowboys – with glasses none the less. This book has it all, and in classic Brown form there is humor and sass all throughout.
The characters in this book are awesome. They are quirky and just flat-out fun – you will wish you were at their next domino night. There is a lot of “old world”, if you will, charm. This simple charm takes you back to a simpler time and mind set. You will almost forget it is set in modern day. The love letters are sweet and simply a character unto themselves. They are a refreshing twist – from Emily’s grandfather’s, to the stickies passed between Greg and his grandmother, to the ones passed from Emily and Greg – they just add another level of depth to every relationship. It is one thing to say something, but a completely different thing to write it down. It’s a little more real, a little more permanent, more serious even, and this book embraces that.
I truly could go on and on about this book. I could give you character analyses, a review of the blurb and seriously none would do the book justice. It is real, funny, different and has a lot of the characteristics I think is important like honesty, hard-work, love and family/community. I have had the privilege to read all of the current the books in Ms. Brown’s Cowboy and Brides series I have enjoyed them all, but I think this one is my most favorite. The simple twists, humor, and sass will have you hooked. Enjoy!
