New York Times bestselling author Cathy Maxwell returns with a delicious new series, The Brides of Wishmore

What happens when a bride says no?

He is the bastard son of a duke, arrogant, handsome, a little bit dangerous, and, of course, one of the most sought-after bachelors in London. He is also about to be publically jilted by some chit of a girl! Blake Stephens’ pride isn’t about to let him be humiliated, so he charges after his bride to the wilds of Scotland, determined to bring her to the altar.

What happens when the heart says yes?

He is promised to one woman, but discovers his soul stirred by . . . the chit’s sister! Lady Aileen Davidson’s reputation was ruined ages ago, which is why she’s buried herself in the country, but her fiery spirit and bold beauty threaten to bring Blake to his knees, making him wonder if he has proposed to the wrong lass.

And now he must make a choice: marry for honor . . . or marry for love?

MY THOUGHTS:

THE BRIDE SAYS NO by Cathy Maxwell is an exciting Regency Historical Romance set in 1807- 1816 Annefield, Scotland.  #1 in her latest release “The Brides of Wishmore” series. What a beginning! Bring on the brides, please!

Meet Lady Aileen Davidson, who has a scandalous past, a widow, and been abused  and  Blake Stephens, who is the bastard son of a duke, wealthy, trying to gain his father’s affection and Aileen’s younger sister’s fiancee.

Will Blake marry for love or honor? You see, he has become attracted to the passionate, scandalous Aileen instead of her sister, who has a few secrets of her own. His betrothed is in love with someone else! And a bit selfish, I believe, she believes everything is about her and her feelings. A little spoiled, to say the least, but likeable also.

Ms. Maxwell is a constant  storyteller who adds a grand mixture of romance, deceit, passion and love in her stories. I can hardly wait to see what’s next for this series. What a wonderful way to start a series, with two brides, with different ideas on love and marriage. But will they marry for love or let love slip them by for honor? You must read ” The Bride Says No”! You will not regret your choice of reading material.  It keeps you on your toes right up to the very last page. A great read!
