distractions, but neither can he turn his back on the woman who tugs at his
Elle feels safe with her two protectors, and the longer
she spends with them, the more she realizes that she has no desire to remember
her past. Not when it could compromise her future with Cade and Merrick.
Cade has his own set of issues when it comes to Elle, and it quickly
becomes clear to the two men that for the first time in their friendship, a
woman is coming between them. But what if they just kept her there? Between
them. Where she belongs.
First, I have to say I love Maya Banks! I like the way she draws us in to love the characters. However in this book, I enjoyed the characters but questioned where she took them. Cade and Merrick run a security company and are called to a store for a break-in and are surprised to find a young woman hiding. She had been beaten, raped and scared to death. She had no memory of what happened to her or who she was. Her friends decided to take her home and keep her safe. She started to remember pieces of her life like her name was Elle. Merrick became very smitten with her and very protective but Cade was starting to feel for Elle too but didn’t show it as much.
Merrick was in the middle of training for the title in the MMA. This was his last shot at making it in the MMA but he is questioning his priorities now that Elle is in his life. She had become a part of both of their lives. She was with one of them all the time. She helped out at the Security office with Cade or she went to the workouts with Merrick.
The men decided that they both cared for her and neither one was willing to walk away from her. They didn’t want a women coming between them so they propose that she have a relationship with both of them and she agreed. She knew she cared for both of them and didn’t want to pick one over the other. This was where I had a little trouble with this story. In previous Maya Banks books, she had men share women before and it was believable because they had done it for years. In this story, Merrick and Cade had been friends for a long time but had never shared a women before so I didn’t find it as believable as in her other stories. I also found it a little hard to believe that they both fell so hard for a women with amnesia and they were not worried about her past. I knew this was a trilogy but didn’t realize that there would be a cliffhanger. I will finish the trilogy but this was not one of my favorite Maya Banks books.
