The Christmas Game (Le Chat Rouge .5)
Published December 3rd 2013
Publisher: Alyssa Linn Palmer
Alone in London on business just before Christmas, Marc Perron meets an intriguing young woman working at a bookshop. A light flirtation seems to lead nowhere, but the night before he returns to Paris, she knocks on his hotel room door.
Madelaine’s taking a risk, but no one’s ever looked at her the way Marc does, and she’s not about to pass up a chance to get to know him better. When he suggests a game of wagers, she can’t resist challenging him. And herself.
Their matchup is a fiery one and each wager tops the last, the sexual heat between them crackling. Neither want to lose the game, but Madelaine fears she might be losing her heart as well.
Part of the Le Chat Rouge series. (Can be read as a stand-alone.)
Marc Perron struggles with personal relationships, especially the difficult situation with his beloved Sera. He has no such conflicts with his sexual encounters. He’s a gifted lover and truly appreciates the woman he is with. THE CHRISTMAS STORY perfectly sums up his character. While pining away hoping for contact from Sera, Marc doesn’t hesitate to flirt with Madelaine. Their brief encounter at the book store she works in is sexy and so loaded with promise that Madelaine can’t resist following up on it. When she personally delivers his purchase, she isn’t convinced she’s doing the right thing. Her doubt is short-lived once Marc answers the door. What follows is a very hot, sexy, fun evening. What woman wouldn’t enjoy a night with this man? But it’s not just sex. Marc is smart, well-educated and shows genuine interest in her desires for the future and the inner workings of her mind. It’s no wonder that Madelaine finds herself falling for him quickly.
Palmer is a very good writer. If you haven’t read the series you’ll enjoy this story without the background. If you enjoy THE CHRISTMAS GAME, you will find the series grittier with much more complex story development and even more intriguing.
